This is a recent review of some of the top models. The Intel 520 series does well but if you don't want a sandforce controller, Vertex 4. Also watch out for performance being lower on smaller capacity drives.

I've got a Samsung 830 256. I'm not bothered about the small variabilities in speed. All SSDs are faster than a platter drive. I got the most gigs and reliable for the cheapest price.

I'm leaning towards the Samsung now, too. Just seems the least hassle.

Unless you need RAID0 for super high speed, ie editing videos, then I wouldn't bother doing it with SSD's. They end up being slower in certain situations. Large file read/writes are where they excel. This isn't something you do in 'normal' usage.
