Which TV Series?

Watched The Shield season 1-6 all amazing, cant wait for season 7. Also watched dexter season 1, awesome ! im also addicted to house, half-way through season 4 at the minute.

Another one that is a 'short series' but absolutely incredible is "Sleeper Cell". Would like to see another season but can live knowing the world is a safer place.

Not sure if you know but they did make a second season of this, it's out on DVD.

Most of the ones i would have mentioned have already been named but for what it's worth

The O.C.
One Tree Hill
Heroes
24
Lost
Shameless

Ones that haven't been named which i quite enjoyed are

Pushing Daisies
Farscape

A couple of oldies well worth a look at IMHO are

American Gothic
Edge of Darkness

Go and just quickly scroll through that page, and look at how many running jokes/in-jokes, references etc are written into each episode....

"Hidden/Background Jokes
3035 The address on Uncle Paul's house is 3035, which reversed is 5303 which could reference the series' 53 episodes and three seasons."

Hidden/background jokes?

Putting self references into the show doesn't make it funny/good, IMO. I've seen arrested development a few times didn't find it that funny, I don't like the main guy though, always seems like he's trying to hard.

Of course not, which is why they're in the background and not at the forefront of it.

Seems like he's trying too hard?! Him and his son are the straight men, the rest of the family provide the humour.

See I'd say it's not Americany at all. I think the fact that it didn't have great ratings in America is a testament to that. The humour is very British. It's not as in your face as American humour is. It's very understated and as I said, completely ******* relentless with the speed in which it just throws jokes at you and it just gets even more so as the series goes on, with many in-jokes, call backs, running gags and even bringing elements into it that you don't pick up on for a few episodes. It was just so fabulously complex, utterly ridiculous and bloody hilarious.

I hope the recall humour is worth it because 3 episodes in i'm really not enjoying the regular humour. It's all seems very immature and silly.

EDIT\\ Sorry that comes across a bit supercilious, i just don't really think it's my cup of tea :)

Stick with it mate. If you're not digging it come mid-season, then I'd probably leave it.

But it's worth mentioning that season 2 really is by the funniest.
