Another one that is a 'short series' but absolutely incredible is "Sleeper Cell". Would like to see another season but can live knowing the world is a safer place.
Go and just quickly scroll through that page, and look at how many running jokes/in-jokes, references etc are written into each episode....
Grey's Anatomy - 'Tis better than House in my opinion, but House is still legendary.
"Hidden/Background Jokes
3035 The address on Uncle Paul's house is 3035, which reversed is 5303 which could reference the series' 53 episodes and three seasons."
Hidden/background jokes?
Putting self references into the show doesn't make it funny/good, IMO. I've seen arrested development a few times didn't find it that funny, I don't like the main guy though, always seems like he's trying to hard.
See I'd say it's not Americany at all. I think the fact that it didn't have great ratings in America is a testament to that. The humour is very British. It's not as in your face as American humour is. It's very understated and as I said, completely ******* relentless with the speed in which it just throws jokes at you and it just gets even more so as the series goes on, with many in-jokes, call backs, running gags and even bringing elements into it that you don't pick up on for a few episodes. It was just so fabulously complex, utterly ridiculous and bloody hilarious.

I hope the recall humour is worth it because 3 episodes in i'm really not enjoying the regular humour. It's all seems very immature and silly.
EDIT\\ Sorry that comes across a bit supercilious, i just don't really think it's my cup of tea![]()
