Which way does psu move air.

Hi all

Just wanted to know which way should a psu be sucking air as mine is mounted at the bottom of my case with the fan at the bottom. As my system is setup to draw air from the rear and leave at the front should it be sucking air from the case out the back or sucking air into the case then out to the front.

I know if i was to change the fan around in the psu it will void my warranty on it.

So any ideas.
 
the psu should suck air through the large fan, and out the back, never heard of anyone running a case where the air comes from the back out of the front.
 
Its due to me having the Corsair H50 mounted at the rear of my antec 300 bringing cool air into the case as its an overclocked system from OcUK.
 
it should draw air from the front, and blow it out the top, the corsair H50 should blow air backwards out of the case, the psu should suck air from the bottom of the case and out the back..

theres fan filters on the front of the case? how are they suppose to work?
 
Well Corsair recommends having the H50 as an intake at the rear drawing cool air from the rear of the case. I do have a 140mm fan at top as exaust and find my system is much cooler with the way i have the airflow setup now.

I also have a 120mm side fan as intake for graphics card and 2 120mm fans at front as exaust also cooling HDD's

OcUK pre-built the system for me so thats how the H50 was mounted.
 
I didnt have any installed at front just roof fan and h50. My HDD's and GPU's are about 5 degrees cooler with the way it is setup as to having air coming in from front. If i have the psu fan with the air coming out the back of the case then it will just circulate round as it will just come back into the h50.

ok.

going back to the washable air filters, they are meant to clean the air before it enters your case, not when its being dumped outside.
 
I could try it with front fans as intake but what about side fan, wouldnt there be no circulation of air only exaust out of top and psu.
 
the side fan should blow inwards, hopefully towards your graphics card area.

air coming out should be the psu, top mounted exhaust fan and the H50

think its like the rest of the gaming case range from Antec, the website FAQ say the psu fan faces upwards
 
ok side fan is intake already. my point being that it is more cooler at the rear of my case due to it being next to window. So if i had it as air coming from front and out the rear. where will the cool air be from. wouldnt that just defeat the object of colling down the components.

That was the way OcUK set it up for me with psu fan at bottom. And H50 as intake and roof as exaust.

Thats why im getting confused and asking for advice.
 
is your room like a sauna? do you have this window open all year round?

the cold air just comes in from around you.
 
Actually it is sought of. My room is situated at the end of a terraced house and since we have had all the cavity walls insulated and loft it has got a lot more warmer in here. It also doesnt help having the sun on the side of the house for most of the day. My window is open all the time as its the only way i can get cool air in.
 
take a deep breath, and blow onto your hand, feels cold doesn't it? yet thats warm air from your lungs.

the faster you blow the colder it feels, theres more to keeping components cold than just the air temp.
 
So what your saying is that i should have my sytem setup as having 2 front fans as intake, Side fan as intake. top and rear as exaust and psu mounted with fan at top drawing air out the back.
