the hunt continues, think I'm going back to chrome.

- firefox - good but has bookmark issues, has multi window + tab issues on close, battery drain on macbooks
- operagx - good but has trackpad issues on windows laptops
- edge - good but has so much bloatware now, default install on phone sends 10 useless notifications per day for thing like news and weather. changes settings on updates
- chrome - slowely killing adblockers

Have you not tried Brave? Based on Chrome but with built in ad blocking

I was flown out to Opera Browser Day this week for 4 days in Lisbon/Sintra by Opera along with some 40+ other content creators and influencers from around the world. The main day showcased Opera's new browser releases and upcoming stuff inc AI features that no other browser has, it's really quite cool with some enbargo details I can't talk about yet inc a live demo that was rather cool.

Anyway, Opera's Air, GX and main releases target different types of user, and all have the same baseline AI features and customisations. I liked what I saw overall so will be giving the Air and mainline versions a try to see if the cross-platform sync stuff works like Firefox Sync does, and if it does then I will move over I think. The automatic Tab Island feature is actually cool as are the side-bar apps, like if you're playing music on the sidebar and another tab plays a youtube video, it will fade out the music and play the youtube, then fade back in the music once the youtube window stops.

Got to talk in detail to some of the dev guys there too and spend time with the PR on the dance floor and things, was nice to be so transparent and actually spend time with us outside of "work" if that makes sense. I'm pleased to see that one of my first third party browsers I used from 30 years ago is still in active dev and growing.

I'll do a full writeup on neowin along with photos/clips of the week next week.
 
Opera GX was really fun to use but it just seems to have this persistent bug on laptops where trackpad gestures aren't supported
 
Might be because the mouse gestures feature is on by default, you could disable gestures entirely which should give access to the trackpad gestures?
 
Opera died when they moved from Presto for me :( I was a user back when it was a paid for browser and it was by far the best, most web compliant browser of it's time.

Back gesture on touchpad Windows 10

Hi, I don´t know if there is any option to do the gestures of going back and forward on the pages with the touchpad, so it would be nice if you added like chrome or edge do in their navigators. Because is a mess to use always the arrows at the top of the ...

yeah if you search around it's been a regular talked about thing for years. If you raise a bug about it the report just gets marked as done. It seems to be the only browser with this issue
