Anybody try Pale Moon? It's an 'optimized' Firefox build. I generally use Opera, but I have Pale Moon installed too. Feels slightly quicker than standard Firefox on my crud celeron laptop, though it could be placebo effect!

Although I voted for Internet Explorer 8, I'm currently toying with Chrome 5. I've managed to get it setup how I like and with adblock installed its seems to be quite nice. I'm not sold, but out of all the others (apart from IE) this seems to operate how I want.

You can actually use that? Last i heard it was unbelievably unstable to the point where it's pretty much unusable.

It depends what version, it's a general name for any in development. The release build candidates etc are generally pretty stable.

Yep, if you run sunspider tests and so on it is a bit faster. Having to wait for the developer and manually updating however is a bit annoying. At the moment they are relocating so it might be some time before 3.6.6 Pale Moon comes out. Also, no Pale Moon beta builds, some builds might be skipped, etc.

I use Chrome, FireFox can't touch it in terms of speed for me. It loads so much faster and pages seem to load quicker. Plus I love how the tabs integrate into the Aero bar, I think its design really complements Windows 7.

Question for people who stopped using Firefox because it loads slowly: surely it's easier just to leave your browser open all the time? The loading is a problem, but these days I only start Firefox when I reboot my PC anyway!

It doesn't just start slowly; it runs slowly and uses unacceptable amounts of memory. It's also very unstable.

The memory I'll give you: it does seem to stack up to 400-500MB too easily. That might be my extensions, though. As for speed, it's certainly slower than Chrome and Opera, but I find that the smart location bar and extensions save me more time than I lose on page loading. Stability-wise, I find all the modern browsers including Firefox really reliable. FF, IE and Chrome all crash much less for me than they used to.

Slow starting of Firefox is a minor irritation, although the whole Chrome experience is just snappier than Firefox. In my opinion Firefox just feels dated and like a Windows XP application, Chrome is fresh and new.

I've changed my tune. Tried Chrome again after finding the DWM crashing issue was due to NVIDIA drivers and it is great! I can't even look at FF now. The long load times, the random freezes. It is epic disappoint.
