Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA 6Gb/s 16MB Cache - OEM (ST500DM002) HDD running on a Sata 6GB port

Or

32GB Crucial V4 SSD running on a Sata 300 port?

Thanks

What do you mean by SATA 300 ? I assume SATA 2 3Gbps?

But yeah, SSD will win.

EDIT: Just saw how slow the Crucial V4 is rated at..

I change my answer to HDD - for writing that is. :D

any ssd will slaughter a mechanical hdd for speed, even in raid mode,it has much much faster access times

sata 6gb hdd's barely saturate sata 3gb ports

It's not the best ssd by a long stretch tbh, what read/write figures in atto benchmark?

Set SATA ports to ahci mode in the BIOS? Using Intel rapid storage drivers ?

I know that but I wanted something faster than a mechanical HDD with decent reads low noise power and heat for a HTPC

Getting Read 176mb and writes at 45mb

running AHCI in bios not installed the intel driver though?
