who actualy be intrested in a tutorial for getting ubuntu up and running with css and all drivers working

say ye or ne i want a proportion of abut 75 percent for me to rite this
 
few days but

kk ill start writing tmorrow could take me a few days but it will be worth it e-Karma + e-rep + e-penis carnt grow anymore die of blood loas ill start tmos dose any one want to contribute qwith a part for runniong xfire or vent ?

Would be cool :) Got Ubuntu running sweetly- just need the CSS bit
 
one thing you must do if you write this:

ASSUME THE USER KNOWS NOTHING.

so many guides i read when starting to use linux just assumed people knew that "# apt-get....." meant type it in the terminal. explain everything in incredible detail otherwise it will be of no use.
 
another vote for yes too

I've always wanted to try linux because i'm a freeware fanboy but find it too daunting and frustrating.

I look at guides online but they aren't newbie friendly enough for my liking :D
 
write one for gentoo as well - it'll give you a bigger e-penis extension.


I hate having an ATI card when it comes to linux :( actually considering buying a 6600 or something just to save hassle.

I made sure I stayed with Nvidia when I upgraded graphics in my main PC, planning for the future when it gets passed on. My 6600 in my Ubuntu machine was easy to set up :)

I know for my ATI card there was a linux binary installer for download on their site and it was literally a case of a windows like installer and a reboot and everything was a-ok.

Could be worth having a peek?
 
er..

1. Download and burn Ubuntu CD.
2. Insert CD, reboot and boot from Disc.
3. Double click "Install"
4. Done.

CS:S:
1. Subscribe to Cedega, download/install
2. Select CS:S from application menu, click install.
3. Done.

or:

1. Download/Install WINE.
2. Download steaminstaller and run under wine.
3. Done.
 
As DJ Jestar says, it's pretty simple already :confused: If a person needs every little tiny step explained in words of one syllable then perhaps Linux isn't best for them - or computers for that matter.

Also with all due respect to the OP, he doesn't appear to be the best person to write such a guide, as his English is not very good.
 
Ok I have got CS-S installed ! now here are the problems

I am switching to plain gnome (no xgl/berly)

when i start i get a message about no dx9 i have to use dx6 !

then i get menu screen, it either goes black when i change res or i change to 1280x124 and it moves to a small box and i can only see 1/2 of menu .



HELP please
