Who can i send a dead GPU to for a possible repair?

Anyone have an opinions on this stuff?

Yes it worth a try, read one review from Ian Irwin847 spilled coffee over his MacBook, he opened it up took logic board out and sprayed PCB Cleaner to flushed coffee that contained water and all flux resides out. Amazed his dead MacBook came back to life worked after used PCB Cleaner. I supposed PCB Cleaner spray contain same fluid used for ultrasonic cleaner.

I just asked if they'd take a look at it to confirm whether or not the card is beyond saving.

I didn't actually expect you to ask OCUK to advise you on whether the card is reparable or not, I meant to ask if they would be if you like the intermediary between you & the cards manufacturer. :)

*Sigh*

Palit definitely wont help and my home insurance dont want to know because there's no 3rd part specialist to verify cause of the damage.

With mining distorting the market i chose a really great time to kill my graphics card :(

Go to any PC shop or electronics repair company and get them to do a report on it?

I posted a company that repairs pc hardware a few pages back.

Apparently they need proof of how it was damaged rather than simply proving that it no longer works.

Yeah thanks for that, i sent them a message a few days ago and they haven't got back to me :(

Proof or an independant report? I assure you if you tell them water went onto it, they could take a look and go looks good enough for water damage and say that in a report.

You currently appear to be getting nowhere, looking back through the posts I'd be inclined to try the oven trick but initially I wouldn't allow the temperature to go much above 100C. In the event that there's still dampness under the boards components, 110C would evaporate it.

They want a 3rd party specialist to confirm that it was water damage. They didn't specify who that 3rd party should be however and i dont know of anyone locally.

Yeah it may well be the oven as my last attempt. I have two concerns with it though; The video posted in this thread says you shouldn't use the over again for actually cooking food and people also mentioned making sure no plastic parts go in. That's fine in theory but the 8pin power connector and the fan power connector aren't removable (as far as i can tell).

lol, just ring a local PC company, tell them your issue and see if they're willing to have one of their techs do a report.

My friend claimed on his insurance and all they done was ask for photo of it to prove it damaged and they valued it based on model number and age and sent monies accordingly.

Sounds like a cope out from your insurance tbh.

Unless you are keeping the card somewhere with 100% humidity then, after this amount of time, it will be dry. As such, a low temperature oven bake is highly unlikely to help you.

Oven bakes save cards with poor solder connections, the temperatures have to be high to reflow the solder.

Don't cover plastic parts with foil, they will still melt. You need to remove the plastic parts before going down this route.

If you do not want to do this before all other options have been explored, it is understandable.

Did you contact the repair company in the link that I posted? If so, did they get back to you?

I sent them an email a few days ago, never heard back. I'll try ringing them next week.
