normally you can zip the 2 mattresses together so you do not really notice the gap at all.

You can still notice it for the pure reason that your missing construction and you have edging. Zipped or not they are terriable.

I bought a new bed yesterday from Bensons for Beds. Not sure if it was a good idea because I usually buy from someone more reputable like John Lewis or M&S, but it was a reasonable deal. I got a super kingsize leather bedstead, with a memory foam matress plus matress protector and a 5 year guarantee for £1150 inc delivery. What I liked though was if you're not satisfied with your mattress after 40 days, they will allow you to exchange it for a different one.

Hell, if you get a good enough mattress, having it on the floor is fine, I know mine was when waiting for the frame to be delivered (3 weeks).

Did you find a quilt/duvet for it OK? I wouldn't mind one of those on my human sized bed.

No, I am going to try and have one made for it. Same with the sheets and bed frame.

We bought a bed from Warren Evans - a small super king as the room wasn't quite big enough for a full super king and we're both tall (me 6'4", her 6').

It's very comfortable and solid. I like it.
