Certainly modern music has been influenced by the likes of Louis armstrong, George gershwin, etc, but I reckon the main one was Cole porter.

Anyway, there isn't much good music press for us Brits. Our traditional sources are fickle and sensationalist, and the American's are biased arses who denounce nearly every UK record because its an import and it cost them more money...
