im very much like you tbh
only mines a 1996 and 160k miles :)
i only drive 3 miles a day to work and back

1995, 1.4 ~120k miles and I always drive like a loon or do stupid things in it regardless of it being slow and you really do have the rev the nuts off of it.

Apart from that it's tip top, runs great, passed it's MOT with 4 advisorys, great cars.

30 miles a day work and back, ive put 70-80k miles on it since 2006, when i got it with 146k miles

they just take it and take it, then ask "please sir can i have some more?"

AA cover with home start/relay/roadside etc etc.
Came with my bank account.
Haven't used it yet but I run more than one car so it's silly not to have some kind of safety net in place.

I've never had breakdown cover. Driving 13 years and never owned anything newer than M reg.

i get it with my insurance (AXA)

never had to use it though, the most serious thing that's failed on my car is a CV Joint

Everybody who has breakdown cover via their fee paying bank account... you do realise that generally these accounts are a total rip off and you can get the 'benefits' cheaper elsewhere?

Banks only sell you it to make money, not to do you a favour.

I don't, my car is reliable enough not to need it. :D

But seriously, anything shy of well over £100 gets me recovered a very short distance to somewhere useless, and comes with someone who will want to open the bonnet and try to fix it.

I want recovery from anywhere, to the Lakes, and I don't want anyone trying to fix it at the roadside except myself (this has occurred in the past).

As often as this is going to happen, it's more economically viable to pay for the recovery outright.

Snap this is my issue too. Why would I want my car recovered to the nearest garage? Not on your nelly sunshine.

Guys this is why you buy cover with a tow to any UK destination :) If my car breaks i get a hire car for up to 2 days to carry on with my journey, and the car is taken anywhere i please (namely the local merc dealer).

Haven't had to use it but for the sake of such a small premium i dont see why you wouldn't.

me

I've had AA cover since the day i passed my test, but this year the bloke got extra specially anal about the online discount.

They normally charge me renewal at £45, i ring up and say, can i cancel please ? they then say way, i say i want to order on-line at £30 and i get given the discount.

This year ? bloke just says "ok then" and lets me cancel. I state that my reason for cancelling is purely to get the on-line discount, in years gone by to save everybody hassle they've just honoured the on-line discount over the phone

"oh no sir, we cant do that, thats not correct, i'm not sure why they've done taht but they shouldnt have been doing it

"so i need to re-order on-line then"

"yes"

so i said **** you and didnt renew with them. Not got round to finding a good deal on a competitor to go with out of spite yet. Although driving a vauxahll i really should :D
