Who else hates this guy (Gregg Wallace)?

was new to me that he is autistic (after they said yesterday steeping down as charity ambassador etc) ... which now explains some of the manic and poor behaviour (putting workers down) during the in the factory series,
pretty similar to Guy Martin or Musk traites - have a bit more sympathy for him.

bbc news is now reciting all these accusation without any clear timeline .. if they were back in the days of page3/bennie-hill ... he wasn't alone.

At its peak, The Benny Hill Show was among the most-watched programmes in the UK with the audience reaching more than 21 million viewers in 1971.

For cultural reference, that is 53 years ago. An odd comparison to make

But isn't Masterchef just a fake program anyway, where amateurs, pros ad celebs (with the use of a search engine) are shown with their ingredients, their story and then 20 minutes later, with no clue to the viewer, how they made it, can then present a meal the assembled names and ex winners and food critics agree or disagree on.
MasterChef is the only BBC program I watch! Gutted if the show gets canned. Torode and Wallis are MasterChef and made the program such a success it is today.

To be fair, you've got to have a talent like many previous amateur winners who have gone on to forge professional careers and rightly so. If they are already professionals, some have opened Michelin restaurants. There is talent on show that can't be winged/faked.

I was once on a commuter coach travelling from London to Kent, as we entered the Blackwall tunnel, there was a guy in a Jag convertible driving like a complete moron. Almost caused the coach to crash. Turns out it was this dude. He was getting all animated, not as animated as the coach driver.

I know, cool story bro. You’re welcome.

The show is held in quite a high regard with many winners going on to good careers and opening restaurants. Not sure where the morals are with the professionals version(in that it can edit pros to appear useless) but that’s the one I can stand to watch, it’s pretty good TV.

Gregg, I don’t like/dislike him but his personality has been a key part of the show for a good many years.

I’ll reserve judgement until more information comes to light but this does sound like a case of people getting overly offended by a middle aged bloke with a bit of a gob on him. I don’t believe he’s another Weinstein.

Let’s wait and see.

Like you say, unless there's more to come out, then it seems like he's just an old 70's dinosaur with his "banter". Unfortunately for him, that sort of "banter" isn't acceptable anymore in a workplace environment, which is a good thing imo. But if that's all it was, he doesn't need to be hung drawn and quartered over it, even if he does have to step away from the show.

He's not done himself any favours with his attack on the accusers though, a contrite "I'm sorry for any offense caused" would have been a better start :p

There are no threads on this, I can't believe no one has commented on it, I guess they've been nuked and this will be too.

It's apparent he's made some sexist and sexual jokes / sexual innuendo at various women and his career, livelyhood and him as a person must be cancelled.

I guess I should start cancelling the lives of the females who have done such horrendous crimes to me in years gone by over the years.

If our lives can be totally wrecked by saying inappropriate things especially in times when such things were not really considered to be thought crimes then the world is becoming one where thought police exist.

The issue being he continued to say highly inappropriate things to contestants and not from say, 20 years ago.

By the sounds of it, it was normalised by staff, camera crew and such, so basically a total failure of leadership.

Working in the financial industry, you can immediately see the difference between a boys club and a more professional modern office environment when visiting offices.

Lol ironic given there is a thread about his behaviour dating 10 years back

I disagree. IMO his response was absolutely perfect.

If you’ve legitimately done nothing wrong (beyond a couple of crass jokes) you should never apologise to the type of people who would anonymously throw allegations like these at you.

Any attempt to apologise, appease or reason with them will just make you look guilty, encourage them to make further allegations and fan the media flames.

Oops, wasn't obvious from the title, I will delete this and post in there, cheers! (I did do a search as well).

I agree he shouldn't be saying those things but to wreck someone's life? Wow.

Hey if he's been touching people up and forcing himself on people then fair enough, but cracking sexist jokes and making innuendo, well I can say I could ruin the lives of several females who I've had contact with. Ridiculous. I am all for equality and would never dream of saying what he has, even years ago when it wasn't really frowned upon, but to ruin a life over it?

I can't believe that in one single line you've managed to miss the decade old thread that's right here on the front page, and then immediately jumped to overzealous moderation
Did that front page thread name anyone in the thread title? Could have been anyone :p

I wasn't working on that premise though. It doesn't seem in contention that he does and has made sexualised comments to fenale guests on the show. That isn't acceptable nowadays and is wrong.
