Who else is getting fed up of fat people trying to get the world to revolve around them?

I really think there is something wrong with the OP if fat people offend him so much..

Do you secretly admire them for being so 'free' that they don't spend every waking moment on their bodyfat scales and looking for 'fat' related things to get offended about?

Hahaha exactly.

It's to do with externalisation of one's locus of control. An obese person, by definition, is never going to be in control of themselves. Therefore they must find any and all means of externalising things.

Go and make s pile of 1 gram of sugar, salt and flour.

Then weigh them and see how close you got

Fat people don't offend me.

It's the exploitation of fat people to achieve a dumber society and increase tax revenues that offends me.

I was referring to sugar taxes there. In the op I said "But why cater for retardation in the first place?" Not cater for obese people.

If one cannot grasp absolute units of mass, and thinks they can grasp a teaspoon full of a random volume of material, then one is pretty retarded.

They should be improving maths lessons, not changing the standards to make it easier for stupid people.

No its much easier.

Because a teaspoon is a as you say a volume

1gram can be any number of sizes depending upon the material.

Plus a teaspoon is basicaly the measurmeent of sugar most people use...you've never been asked how many grams of sugar youd like in your tea would you?

You yourself said you had no idea how many hrans where in a teaspoon but i bet you csn picture a pile of sugar thats 1 teaspoon

Do you drive a car with any form of driver aids or electronics?
Do you ever use a calculator?
Do you ever type things up when you could just get a pen and write them out?
Do you ever Google anything rather than going and looking it up in a book?
Do you use a spellchecker rather than dragging the dictionary off the shelf?
Do you ever use a microwave or any cooking implement for that matter? It takes more skill to go and build a fire from a few twigs.

If you do any of those things your cries about dumbing down society due to making it a little easier for people to be informed about what they're eating and possibly actually help them make an informed thought out decision rather than just shoveling the food in are laughable.

My point being what you see as dumbing down could actually allow people to become more knowledgeable about what they eat rather than less.

Who else thinks asim has never cooked or baked anything proper in his life :p

If something says 12g of sugar instead of 4 teaspoons they need to die.

you can put both you know?

Carbohydrates 8.9g
as sugars 6.5g (approx 1.5 teaspoons)

It won't really matter anyway - their is a social responsibility to educate people about their diets and to make sure healthy food is accessible to everyone. Simply changing the way we describe food on the label won't change things.

I wonder if we skip forward a 100 years or so, whether or not sugar will be treated in the same way that we treat tobacco now; It is addictive and injurious to peoples health!

Demolition man was a view into the future

It's not that either.

Just to give you an idea that is into the realms of a competitive bodybuilder around showtime, you do not just accidently under 5% bf.

My Body fat was around that level when I was a teenager. I'm a lazy arse now, so its fair bit higher, but if I was eating as healthy as I used to and doing a bit more exercise, I can see my body fat falling to around there fairly easily.

equal parts depressing and hilarious,

so much hate for no reason. so much misunderstanding and so many think that because they aren't fat they aren't at massive risk.

just extremely poor education and why such things probably aren't a bad idea.

No it wasn't, you would be hospitalised if your bodyfat was 5%, competitive bodybuilders train rigourously to get to 5% and then they only remain there for a couple of days. It's incredibly unhealthy and you pretty much have to be starving yourself while doing extensive amounts of exercise, and most likely in bodybuilders be on drugs

No need to be on drugs, natural bbers manage it.
They just hold less muscle and are a little less shredded than their unnatural counterparts.

I don't see how any of those things are even remotely comparable?

Every single thing you have mentioned is to do with saving time it's got nothing to do with being dumb. If anyone uses a calculator just because they're dumb, and not primarily to save time, I feel sorry for them.

Some people may use a calculator simply to cheat because they're stupid, of course that is possible. But the main usage of a calculator is to save time, especially when you're working with large amounts of numbers/operations/ etc.

Anyone using a calculator for legitimate reasons should know the exact mathematical theory/processes required to achieve their desired calculation and would be perfectly capable of working it out manually, the thing is it could take up to a thousand times longer, and beyond, depending on the calculation/data set.

When you say a teaspoon of sugar, are you just going to ignore all the other nutritional markup of a product or are you going to start measuring protein and everything else in teaspoons as well? Are you saying a dumb person can simply ignore everything that's measured in grams and just focus on the sugar and everything will be dandy as long as they know how much sugar is in their drink/cake/whatever?
