Construction. Its alright though, got given the afternoon off after I wrote this thread! :D

Just been by the pool, its a hot 30degC with clear skies. Despite this it still sucks to be away from family and Id much rather be back home in the cold than out here.
 
Doing 4 hours as a favour to somewhere for a bit of cash! I have worked the past 3 christmases, doesnt really bother me as we always have Christmas Day another day when the whole family can be there!
 
My work closed from last friday to Jan 4th, since there isn't much we can do, so they just gave us all holiday for a few weeks.

Gotta love working in **** companys, bad pay but the time off can be brilliant.

I'd assume it's using your holidays though, you won't still have your 28 days to take at your leisure?

Wise move for a lot of businesses tbh. Why pay people to sit around doing nothing and then let them take holidays when your busy.
 
Half day today, then off on holiday until 11th Jan :)

Going round Europe with girlfriend...cant wait till I leave on Boxing day!
 
nope not me, finished yesterday at 10.45 and wont be back in till 7.00am on 5th Jan same for everybody in my dept tho.

I have worked there over 11 years and the staff have always shared the cover between us.. but this year he sneakily sent off the christmas rota, had it signed off on and its too late to change it!! what an absolute ****

...although I had made plans, I'm not that bothered because I tend to make the best of whatever situation I find myself in... and I have the most understanding and totally laid back missus in the world. We will just enjoy our time together with our family whenever we have the chance!!!..

Revenge is a dish best served cold. Let him think you dont care at all when you get back to work together, while all the time planning your revenge :p

As for me, im self employed so i asked myself for the whole of chrismas off and i agreed! get in there!
 
I could/would never work xmas day. It's my one rule about working even for ridiculous pay. Seriously I wouldn't do it even for silly money. Much happier being with family/kids. I've done Xmas eve, new years day, boxing day before, but Xmas day....I'd quit my job if I got made to do that.
 
I'm on call, but all that means is I'll get double pay to carry a phone.

Like anyone's actually going to ring it :p

I'll be in tomorrow morning but the site management are providing us with a Christmas lunch for the afternoon so its not all bad.

On a building site in Thialand? Not surprised work continues.
Well do as the locals do. Some of south east asia take a single day as Public holiday for Christmas, but that'll be it. Its not the big long festival holiday as it is in Europe.
