Who has and who has blocked family members on FB as you feel restricted and watched?

yeah but ano but yeah but, it's a habit now when drinking alone (gf story) and on youtube, the fb button is just there.
Yeah tbh it more hassle than it's worth and you feel your head rotting scrolling down till you find something to take your fancy but never do.
I've signed up for Twitter but I must be too old I don't get it? what do you do on there?
Follow people you like. Comedians, authors, sports, companies who make things you like. It takes a bit of effort.

I blocked one family member on youtube. But youtube blocks are useless.

I think it only stops them posting comments. They are still subscribed and will get notified of any public activity.

Only one family member blocked. My eldest cousin because he is a pompous know it all that needs sparking out.
But only use Facebook for the Mtb and golf groups. Don’t post anything about my life on Facebook.

I've blocked one family member who is one of my Brother in Laws:
1) Shared many Covid conspiracy videos/memes
2) His wifes best mate ended up in ICU on Christmas Eve and to this day her symptoms are similar to Kate Garraway's husband.
3) I thought he had suddenly seen that it wasn't a hoax but one week later the sharing started again - BLOCKED
4) Last week I found out he's had his Covid jab :)

In March 2020 I had just over 1300 friends mostly to do with music but I'm down to just under 1000 and my Facebook is now great.
All have been blocked for Covid conspiracy or disguised racism over BLM.

well have you heard all the recent scandal over the BLM founders? On youtube and where is all the money going etc....who knows lol :p

I'm not bothered about the founders and all that stuff and none of the blocked 'friends' would know at that time either.
The core message at the time was for Blacks to be treated the same as Whites but these idiots just turned it into racism which I'm having no time for.
Some people really crawled out of the walls.

Deleted it. Social media is a cancer on society IMHO

Agreed. I've never used it on a phone and only use it on desktop (browser) sparingly, as desktop was how FB originated. People just scroll past posts, giving and receiving the odd 'like' and generally pay very little attention to what they're seeing as they continue to scroll past. That's why I always preferred forums. Even if we're a bunch of strangers on OcUK, we give time to read each others' posts and reply to each other. We interact with each other.

It's only an issue if you the user make it an issue. Those who often complain about it are the ones unwilling to accept and address their underlying internal problems. There are plenty of ways to control what you see on fb and who you interact with. Everything else means you are the problem not anyone else.

Just don't use it, I stopped when all it showed me was:
1. Adverts
2. Attention seeking moaners
3. Conspiracy nutters.

Life is much better without social media, I feel for today's younguns that can't escape it.

I have a FB "Friend" that I recently found out is a flat earther. I couldn't believe it at first but its fascinating to watch him post on NASA/SPACE X type videos about bad CGI etc. I can't look away...

I've unfollowed a few family members. One of them is slinging Juice Plus, constantly posting about how the money affords her these great freedoms whilst living off her husbands salary. Stupid bint.

I stopped using FB about a decade ago. Too many friends and family posting too much stuff that made my opinion of them worse.

Prefer Twitter, where I only follow people for entertainment and don't link it up to real life contacts.

That's called multi-level marketing (MLMs). They're a cat's whisker away from pyramid schemes and the only thing that differentiate them from pyramid schemes is that a product is involved. Typically a beauty or a health product. Avon was one of the first MLMs, pre-internet and I believe was fairly legitimate, but then we had the likes of Forever Living which turned MLMs into the cancer that we know it nowadays. They should be outlawed as they prey on the financially vulnerable (mostly female) and they have been rife during the lockdowns due to the stay-at-home orders and furlough.

When I was on fecesbook I would randomly delete people Id known for 25 years because I suddenly didn't like some fairly innocuous thing about them. If I'd found it out in real life then I probably wouldn't have cared so much but everyone on fb is presented on a photo frame of turds which amplifies the negative feelings.

I’m the opposite, my FB is mainly family, I agree, mixing family with friends can be a recipe for disaster so FB is only there for a handful of posts each year and we use it as a method of keeping in touch with the family... It is amazing though that the few friends I’ve added on Facebook are all woke and seem to love posting everything political... let’s hope they have their privacy set correctly when applying for their next jobs..
