Who here does / does not complete games ?

Not finished a game for around 2-3yrs now, not bought a new game in that time either. Still playing Arma 2, not the campaign, never really played that. Instead playing a running military/political type game with around 30 odd friends, we originally started it over a decade ago, just keeps rolling on..

If it doesn’t have an ‘Editor’ built in the game I probably wouldn’t play it. Maybe getting too old..

Will buy A3 but not for the campaign, just for the ‘Editor’ and new mods/islands that will be made by many people, our group included..

Edit: I lie, I bought 'Iron Front', still we all make mistakes, oh and of course the A2 addon's Arrowhead etc..

I complete a fair share of games relative to the amount of time spent gaming, probably because aside from Quakeworld (and occasional L4D) I don't play any multiplayer. For the past 8 years or so I've been keeping a list in notepad of all the games I've completed (note I'm talking just main 'campaign' no 100% nonsense), the one regret is I didn't use a spreadsheet instead and put dates against them.

Essentially what happened was 1998-2003 I was very heavily into QW and basically played hardly any singleplayer, I think I completed half a dozen SP games in the space of 5 years. I then decided to make a concerted effort to play more SP because I know that I was missing out.

List below if anyone cares (first bunch of games aren't in order as I didn't start the list straight away... also listing Football Manager is a bit of a joke!):

Depends on the game; sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. I have saves in about 20 games atm across all platforms. I can leave a game for months, come back to it and complete it or blaze my way though a game in the first few sittings. I haven't totally quit a game due to difficulty in many years but Trials HD and the dark world mode in Super Meat Boy are both candidates for changing that.

I find a good way of preventing getting bored but playing lots of different games is to keep to as few in the same genre as possible. So if I complete Far Cry, I can start Crysis etc.

Sometimes it's better to just quit though, started playing Blue Toad Murder Files recently but just couldn't stomach sitting through the whole game. Kudps to anyone who manages it!

i do this all the time, las game i completed was spec ops, the line.
i just dont seem to have the patience for games anymore, i always get that seen it done it before feeling.
Im struggling through the latest Max Painfull, whos great idea was it to, at the end of every gunfight, make some bloke pop out just as you thought it was safe to come out of hiding ,id like to strangle the B******!!!
A game should be a joy to play, not a test of nerves.

completed every game i have that I've played and can be completed, other wise it's like watching a film and stopping 30 mins from the end.

Although, I've not played a game in 4 months :(

I complete about one in every 10-15 games :(.

I have actually got games I bought but haven't played longer than 10 minutes :(.

I never complete games. Tbh, i mostly play online fps. cod, bfbc2, bf3 etc. I play a wee bit of single player and then just go online. I cant find a game that holds my attention for long enough in single player.

I think the developers are aware of this. Wasn't it Deus X that actually gave you an achievement for watching the end credits?!

Over the years it seems I complete less and less even though the length of games seems to be shortening, I just find a lot of games to be less gripping nowadays, their are rare exceptions but they have to be something special to hold my attention.

Thats because a lot of the bigger releases are recycled BF/COD MW clones or they subscribe to that ethos. IE an awful lot of bling but very little substance.

Essentially the SP element on such titles are just a complimentary few levels that they have to stick in to justify the £40 price tag. I completed MW2 in like 5 hrs. Yawn. Havent bothered with MW 3 or BF3 etc etc.

The indy scene is where its at in gaming in my opinion. The big hitters just take the **** out of gamers by releasing poor quality and often broken titles.

Whatever happened to releasing a game that works 'out of the box'?

As for completing games I complete all of the ones I play, eventually. My problem is multiplayer. I spend far too much time on Quake 3! :p

At the minute I am part way through deadspace 2, just started splinter cell conviction and I am also part way through borderlands :)

But mostly I play Quake 3, and I just last night started to play Tribes Ascend and I can see myself spending a fair amount of time on that :)

Buff

When I was younger I was known as the guy who got a game completed it that day then sold it the next. I always completed my games, now I have over 170 games on steam and I can count on 1 hand the games I've completed on it. It all changed for me since I started playing MMOs and Multiplayer, now I just turn a game on generally and just go straight in to the multiplayer.

I usually do complete every game. But lately I have been getting too bored continue playing some. e.g

Alice in wonderland
GTA IV
Skyrim although I will go back to it at some point, just became over whelmed by the sheer amount of things to do. Hadn't even started the main story but had spent over a 100 hours on it!
La noire which I think I'll go back to at some point.
Borderlands just seemed to be the same thing over and over.
Bioshock 2 just didn't feel any where near as good as 1.

I very rarely complete fps games, I only really buy them for their multi player aspect.

all depends on the game, if there is enough to hold my attention i'll play all the way through, however if not i'll play till i get bored, then "maybe" come back to it at a later date and finish it.
almost never 100% a game, just dont have the time and patience.
GTAIV is a prime example of a game i got bored of, on more than one occasion, i start playing with full intention of playing through, but get bored and leave it, its got a **** poor story line in my opinion.

I hardly ever complete games these days. For example, I have put around 400 hours into all the total war games, but I have never completed a campaign.

The last two games I completed were the Kane & Lynch series, which I did within 3 days.
