Who here has been in a bad crash

Those vans are just about the worst things in a front ender, about two inches of crumple zone then your legs have to take over the job of slowing the van down. :(

I hit a tree in my mini

No serious injurys, but I won't be doing that again, next mini will be having a cage ;) :p

I crashed through a hedge and rolled my car about four months ago. Got a couple of pictures but they are stuck on my phone. No injuries to speak of but I have on ontention of doing that again.

Eesh! Poor Mini!

My mate slammed his Mini into a lamp post and slid idown the road on its roof and he was unhurt.

Me, I've been in two really minor bumps and have had a completely naffed back for 2 years  Only just got it sorted. Funny how people can just 'get up and walk away' from really horrific accidents

I got smacked straight in the drivers side by a grand jeep cherokee...knocked my (then) Astra MK4 straight over onto its roof!.

Oddly, the Astra wasnt written off and I climbed out and walked away...side airbags were a god send!

Other than that I was coming round a round a bout onto a slip road and a foreign driver in a hire car was coming off the dual carriage way and didnt know there was a roundabout to negotiate. He hit me (on roundabout) doing 70mph and sent my dads 309 into a massive spin eventually coming to rest after whacking a lampost!

I will NEVER forget the G forces I felt that day when spinning...t'was great!

Had my last car written off by someone but wouldn't have called it a serious accident by any means, esp not compared to this lot!

I think its a bit like F1 now, if the car looks completely mashed up then so long as the passenger comparment is intact they hopefully are ok because all the energy was absorbed by the car not on them!

Long time lurker...

A4120 Aberystwyth to Devils Bridge (nr Capel Seion) two years ago. Me and the bike became intimate with a hedge after getting complacent on a long ride out. Can't have been doing more than 40 otherwise I'd not be here - it was a headfirst trip into the undergrowth.

post.crash.smallest.jpg

Three broken bones in my back, dislocated left shoulder, dislocated and ruptured right ACJ, stretched nerve down right hand side of neck (parasthesia), bruised lungs, bruised abdominal organs, two broken fingers, damaged right ear (vertigo inducing floating particle). After a year of recovery (including 6 months back on the bike and 3 trackdays), found I had also fractured my pelvis and head of the femur, so am just recovering from having a metal-on-metal hip resurfacing operation. No photos since they aren't pretty.

With a bit of luck, 4 more weeks before I'm back on the bike and hitting the first trackday. Don't let the injuries put you off biking, it hasn't put me off... Just learn from it.

btw - the bike was an economic write-off, but since it was TPFT I rebuit it anyway.

I have - a couple of years back some muppet went to overtake a queue of vehicles before a blind bend, as he went to overtake he came side to side @ 60ish with another car from further back, bounced off him and smashed into me.

Sent me spinning off down the road and backwards into a hedge, the porka skidded off further down and the car which caused it continued on past my car and through the hedge and across a field.

Pretty messy - wrote off all 3 cars in the process and screwed up my neck. The only thing to be thankful was that no cars came round the corner as 2 of us (me and porsche) both spun down the wrong side @ high speed after being hit.

was passenger in my dads car when we got T boned

we were both doing about 40 ish when he ran red lights.

Hit the car so hard it spun 180 and hit the kerb so hard it ripped the rear axle straight off and destroyed the chassis, the crumpezone spanned the entire length of the car writing it off completely.

ive only had a few scrapes whilst driving. bent panels and what not. nothing serious. Had 3 when i was younger that were my fault, and 2 more since in the picasso that were other peoples faults.

*OUCH!!!*

No pics, but I had a HUGE get-off on a Kwack GPX600R in 1990.

87 year old in a Fiesta pulled out on me at point blank range from a petrol station forecourt.

I went over the bars, hit the Fiesta windscreen on the way by and slid some distance up the road. I was doing about 45mph at the time, in a 60 zone.

Ruptured spleen, which was removed. I'm now on 2 penicillin tabs a day for life.

Serious fracture of the lower Femur, which ran into the knee joint. Various bits of mecano fitted in there to allow for some future movement. Had it all removed in a post-crash op about 1 year later.

Broken collar-bone.

Thankfully I was wearing top quality bike kit at the time, or it could have been much worse.

Was off work for almost a year. I'm a Firefighter, and luckily, my Chief Fire Officer was benevolent enough to allow me as much time as I needed to recover fully and return to my operational post.

All because of an auld goat who could barely see 2 feet in front of him and wasn't paying attention. Should have been on the bus if he wanted to go anywhere tbh.

On a sidenote, anyone crashed in a "company car".....lol....!!!

Mate from another Brigade posted these on another forum:-

lol at the rolled over one.

How hard must he have been pushing that ?

Pretty hard.

The Volvo's we use in my area can sometimes get up on two wheels on either side, had it happen on a few rare occasions myself, especially on roundabouts ( like that one in the pic ), but normally they are pretty stable and hold the road well.
