Who here owns a Renaultsport?

I've got excessive tyre wear on the outer edge of my mk2 Clio 172 front drivers side tyre. I have a thudding noise when going over bumps coming from the same side. What could this be?

- shocks?
- dampners?
- springs?
- low tyre pressure (adding to wear).

The tracking seems OK, although the car does tramline to whatever camber the road is but I thought that was usual for a 172?

Have you had the tracking checked, or are you just assuming its ok from driving it?

I'm assuming it's OK from driving it.

I'd get the tracking checked and whilst there check the suspension for play etc.

You won't be able to tell just from driving it. Get it checked out.

And go to a PROPER alignment place with before/after printouts, not just a kwikfit type outfit.

Is it best to change the tyre first or will that have no impact?

Anyone have a rough idea of cost for the Auxiliary belt change service for the 182? Ktec want £270(I think?) but I'm on a bit of a budget.

I'd highly recommend SJM Automotive (Dan) in Street.
IIRC he charges £265 for the 36K service (Aux Belt + Oil/Filter + Air Filter + Cabin Filter).

No. I doubt you'd get any reasonable insurance quotes either!

Depends entirely on age.

My 182 was my first car, but I was 24. It still wasn't cheap, and I'd probably go for something sensible - as after the novelty wears off, it's an extra expense!

I've spoken to Dan over on the cs forums, didn't know I had any local specialists! Saves me going to Ktec.

1.2k doesn't seem that bad to me

Or I could go with something slow and save £500

Any other options for a budget of 2k? I should probably make a thread, will do soon

Leon Cupra seems good and probably more reliable than a clio
