Who here owns a Subaru?

Most tuners travel. If you want ECUtek you cannot go wrong with JGM.

I use RaceDynamix. He uses an OpenSource remap method so you don't pay any license fee as you do with the ECUtek. You just pay £350 for it to be tuned on the road, or I think it's an extra £75 to get it done on the dyno.

The age old argument of ECUtek vs OpenSource has been done over and over, so it may be worth having a read up on Scoobynet. But it mainly comes down to what mapper is best for you :)

He does travel yes :)

Honestly your easiest bet is to have a search of ScoobyNet mate for info. I've got nothing to hand and would have to search for myself lol. He is mentioned all the time, many happy customers.

This is his Facebook page:
http://www.facebook.com/racedynamix

And this is his website (which is being redone)
http://www.racedynamix.com/

Similarly though there are many a happy customer for people like JGM, Bob Rawle, Andy Forrest etc.

Get on ScoobyNet, ask who is your local tuner/garage and someone on there will point you in the right direction of what is easiest and best in Essex. :)

Good choice. If you're getting them ported you may as well get all the lugs for the heat shields taken off anyway and then just heat wrap them.

PS Harvey is rather ill atm, so don't expect much of a reply from him. He is the one with my turbo, hope he gets better soon, guy's a legend.

Is the heatshield the big old silver casing over the middle of the header? Also what do you reckon it would cost all in to get it ported + trick up-pipe + heat shielded?

Yeah the metal casing around the manifold is the heat shield.

Cost wise, if you are using Harvey to do the work, I believe it's around £300 all in to get ported, trick up pipe and all heated wrapped.

However, Harvey is not the only man who can do the work, many of the tuners offer the service as well, so it may be worth ringing around the local guys and seeing what they offer.

My Dad ported and heat wrapped his manifold as he didn't want to pay someone to do the work :)

I can't remember if there is a cat in the up pipe on the hawkeye WRX?

Either way, exhaust plus remap will make a biiiiiig difference in the way it drives. The 2.5 becomes so torquey!

You will have to run at Powerstation at the RR day as well to see how it goes on there!

Well Duncan from Racedynamix came down and had a play around with the ECU on my car :)
Feels so much better now, rather than the generic PPP mod, pulls really well in 3rd/4th gear it gets scary LOL
I mentioned your name Kostas, and he only has praise and good words for you ;)

Duncan was awesome, really friendly all the way through, said my airflow was extremely good, up to 276, i think that was the MAF reading or something LOL not really sure. Said the engine was a good 1, which made me happy.

Power wise, Duncan quoted around 320/330Bhp/320 Torque, which if true is amazing.

Next step for me is sorting out the suspension, as i have a knocking rear passenger side shock, then who knows :P

Glad you are happy. You should get down to the rolling road day and see how it does ;)

I hope the praise and good words are genuine! :D

And the 6 speed gearbox, and the brakes, and the adjustable differential, and the stronger engine, bigger turbo, intercooler etc? ;)

What you have is a hawkeye WRX with a remap, some wheels and a spoiler :p

Glad you're enjoying it, but don't get a "boost" lol :D
