Who here thinks they have had a past life?

I was in an episode of 'CHiPs' in a previous life back in '79. I got killed saving a kid from a car wreck just before it exploded, sending schrapnell into my back.

Episode 305 - "Death Watch"
First aired 17th Oct 1979. I died in April '79 when it was filmed though.

Questions like these tend to lead onto even more questions for me. My first instinct is to say there can be no such thing as past lives, as the person that I call 'me', and resides in 'my' body, is just a system of chemicals. The mind boggling part is how these physical chemicals cause mental thought, and no matter how hard I think about it I can't get my head around it. I guess if I could understand it though I'd be a leading scientist :p

I believe in reincarnation, I think it makes more sense to me (don't ask me how) that we continue our excistence in a new body with no recolection of our previous lives than we go to that place in the sky (or the other place..).

Transformers?

The "Human Being" that we all know and love is, based on cell count, only between 5% and 15% human, that is cells containing human DNA.

The rest is comprised of microbial life which co-exists in every living creature.

Following this, one could argue that we are all part of a single distributed organism which spans the globe and that we all live and die as one single being, the collective consciousness lives on and that we are simultaneously ourselves and everyone(thing) else.

If what you say is true that means I have part of a colemans mustard fan in me! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :P

Anyway I get deja vu all the time and its like ive lived through a lot of my current events before. Odd feeling

anyone wanna go on regression and tell us what you find out?

Personally, there are things in my life that really dont make sense:

I love jazz frorm the 40's
Pictures of Atlantic City make me feel emotional
I love art deco and when I was very young, I once told someone about their Tiffany lamp even though there was no way I could have known what it was
When you mention WW2, I get a cold feeling in my throat
Pictures of the inside of WW2 bombers feel strangely familiar

Wierdest of all though:

I occasionally dream of sitting by a fire listening to the wireless. I stand up and in the mirror is someone who is not me. He is tall with glasses and a pinstripe suite, he has greased Italian style hair with sallow complexion. He smokes a pipe.

How can you have a past life?

I mean, even if you're remembering something it's not your life and it isn't you whom you remember. Technically, how can you call that a past-life?

In my day you'd be sectioned, boyo.

Is this left over from April fools.
Are people for real in this thread.
Are there really people that believe this and would even go as far as admitting it.

With the new regulations/rulings i am struggling to reply without being rude.
All i can say is if you are for real here then i am going to have to re-evaluate future posts/threads respectively.

 Here of all places.

I'm sure I read de ja vu was something to do with a signal being delayed at one of your synapses so part of the message reaches your brain then a split second later the full thing gets there.

You probably did, but given that our level of technology cannot measure specifically what a working synapse is doing it was probably a scientist who catagorically stated something because it "sounded right" and didn't want to give any leway to any ideas outside of science

Your reaction to things you don't agree with is what eactly?

Good for you

Why not?

A.Very provacative but i will not rise to it. It was merely my way of politely laughing at the topic/thread.

B. Thanks.

C. I thought people here had more sense and were overall more grounded.

I will add that i find it hard to desribe how i feel in words without breaking any new rules. Not that i want to be rude at all i am just at a loss how to dismiss something without being rude to the O.P.
But being blatantly honest CBS i really had you down to be above this kind of nonsence. Sorry if that offends it's not meant to.

With how much thought you've given this matter, would you now be prepared to consider the alternative hypothesis? That there is a non-physical component to life. And test the two hypotheses alongside each other - If you're going to look at it scientifically you may as well use scientific method! ;)

That depends on what you consider to be "you." Is it the personality that has been built up for this body and this lifetime; or is "you" the individuality that that personality (and every other) is a part of?
In the same way that you act differently towards different people - you don't treat your other half the way you act towards your boss, for example - the persona that you build up is more suited for that particular lifetime.

One book on the subject I can recommend is "Many Lives, Many Masters" by Dr Brian Weiss. A clinical psychologist who found that a patient he hypnotically regressed exhibited signs of an alternate personality. I did a little more research after being made aware that "More Lives Than One" was possibly not as definite as I had first supposed and found this referred to by many people. I strongly recommend it to anyone interested in the subject.

I'm sorry, would you set out a list of 'grounded' beliefs please so it doens't happen again....

New rules? Try expressing yourself without insults, its fairly simple.

Be rude, I prefer honesty - if that is what you have then share it

I'm not. Now can you tell me why its nonsence without using the argument that someone else once told you it was nonsence?

I expect deja vu is caused when sensory inputs accidentally bypass the short term memory and go straight into the long term memory. The brain seeing that this collection of data is already stored in the long term memory tells you that you've seen/heard/felt etc. all this before.

Not me but I've got the worst memory in the world.
I do get Deja Vu quite a lot though.
Do I think reincarnation is nonsense? - yes.

Are you on the rag.
Without anyone telling me anything i think its total crap.
It's strange how all these reincarnated people are x kings and queens or presidents etc.
You don't get many people claiming they were scum bag peasants in a previous life. More like Ann Boleyn :p
Re incarnation for me is in the book with a Flat earth and moon landing conspiracys. Completely laughable and anyone who entertains such ridiculous notions cannot be taken seriously.

Humans these days are wrapped up in there own self importance. You live you die you rot you fertilise the ground.
Get over it.
