Who is 4k ready?

No, not yet. I'm still on 1200p, though I plan to jump to at least 1440p / 120hz+ in the not too distant future. Not sure whether to go for gsync or not.

Depends on the game really.

I cant downsample 4K with my monitor as it wigs out but I can do 3200 x 1800.

I can max out Alien Isolation with this res and get really good fps. It makes the game look awesome.

Even if I could afford it I'm not sure I'd want to, a lot of the games I play are mostly CPU bound so it's going to be painful to play. That and to keep the hardware to push 4k it's going to keep on costing a lot.

I'll wait a bit :P

Not really. I mean I play everything in 4k but even 4 TitanX cards aren't always able to produce 60fps at 4k.

This statement sums the whole 4K debate up.

Much more expensive for a generally less satisfying experience.

What is better, Witcher 3 @ 1080p with 60 fps on Ultra, or Witcher 3 @ 4K with 30 fps on Ultra, or if smooth frame rates are your thing, then 4K, 60fps, medium settings.

I'm not even HD ready. :o Dat laptop gaming.

Been using a alienware m17x r4 since 2012 with a 7970m GPU and ii7 and 16 GB ram and it's served me well and lots of games have managed ultra 1080 at near on 60fps but its now struggling to do 1080 60fpz at ultra, many games I've tried recently have had aa turned down, high textures and medium shadow's and then I might even see drops from 60 and witcher 3 has had to be locked at 30 fps for me sadly.

My gaming laptop is not even 120hz 1440 capable let alone 4k..

Witcher 3 @ 2160p with 60fps on Ultra.

Well, seeing as a single Titan X is slowly becoming borderline to max not particularly good looking games at 1080p without any dips (Hi, Witcher 3), the whole 4k@60fps concept is a bit of a pipe dream for 99% of people. I know I'm exaggerating but it happens. I bet most of us can't get steady 60 fps at 1080p:rolleyes:

Nope.

Still on 1680x1050.

16:10 for the WIN.

4K gaming is the reserve of a few for the time being.

The price of entry is too high for most.

I am happy with my 4k (UHD) experience. It will only get better too in the future.
If you have the £'s that is. To put it in context it cost me £1160 to game in 4k.

There are other variables like people who love smooth frame rates @ 120mhz will hate 4k.
If you can live with 40fps to 60fps in games with outstanding visuals then 4k is a consideration.

It is only like someone who can only afford to game at 1080p wanting 1440p. Dont know what all the fuss is about really.
