Definitely a tricky one. Because that filtering thing is legal. It looked safe. Let's say he wasn't speeding. What else could he do. Can't stop at every gap.

I'm saying woman. But I can understand how a dunce might assume its safe to cross.

I commuted to work on a bike for two years after getting fed up with sitting in standstill two lane traffic. The doddery old lady stepping out in front of me just happened to be in a car at the time.

Live and learn.

Bike, the laws that came into effect last Jan stipulate the order of priority as such.
Pedestrians will always come out on top in terms of innocence, even though common sense seems to be futile on some people.

If he was going too fast to come to a stop before an impact, then he is to blame.
Lucky she didn't have a serious injury at her age.

if he'd be going slower that reaction time would have been much bigger, which is why i'd say the bikers at fault (not that the woman isn't a bit special for not looking or apparently not looking)
Well sure if everyone went 2mph everywhere then there would be close to zero accidents. It's not practical to go so slowly that any random person jumping out into the road is always safe however.

Like I said, even if he was going 15mph she still would have been bopped. She is a moron.

Its the womans fault, if he had been going 10mph but a lot closer he would have even less chance to react, he would just have collided with her at a slower speed.

I mean you would have thought by her age she would have had the chance to have mastered the green cross code.

It could just as easily have been a cyclist to the left edge of the road who she got further across before walking in front of.

Its clear that pedestrians have the highest priority, but that comes with some responsibility to not directly put themselves in the line of harm.

Both. Wasn't driving to the road conditions. If you cannot see properly and someone could walk out in front of you without you being able to stop you are going too fast.

She should have looked before walking out but how many people actually would do that in completely static traffic unless they ride a bike and know that this happens.
