I read that the code was only valid for 48 hrs after release, although I can't confirm or deny this as I used mine as soon as it arrive.

I think it is there at any time, the first time I did it (I crashed the plane in the sea afterwards so glitched it spawning lol and had to reload) was at night, did you go into the cove itself?

Well I flew over and ejected, only to realise I had no parachute, so from the time I had until my ending I managed to get a glance in but could not really see anything.

I will try again

Try it out but if you have the LAN out then it should be fine.

It worked for me (pre-patch) and I had only done the very first Franklin mission

Well if the code that comes with the game for the 500k doesn't work after 2 days then I will be doing this stock glitch thing then.

As long as you have not got the latest patch installed then you should be fine, I did the same. When I saw the patch had been released I unplugged the ethernet cable and maxed out each character, saved my game, plugged the cable back in and updated.

Money is still there for each character. Might want to backup your save too maybe.
