who IS working this Christmas ?

I see, I have an passport but it's out of date, I got it in 2001. Can I still use that?

Thanks
(Sorry for the off-topic post peope) :p
I'd never refuse a passport just for being out of date.
It's not a matter of officially accepted ID, it's just whether we can reliably judge it to be genuine and as such an accurate indicator of your age. A passport being out of date doesn't make it any less accurate, obviously the picture still needs to be identifiable as you.

Passports and driving licences are hard to forge well, and are seen commonly enough for forgeries to be spotted relatively easily. Anything else like the citizen card I wouldn't know what it's meant to look like in the first place. Foreign ID cards or passports can present similar problems but will eventually come down to a judgement call, which to be honest I'd probably make with a citizen card as well, but then I'm given a bit more free reign than some.

Get yourself a provisional driving licence, there's little detriment to having one, and it removes it as a problem.

Have all the holidays off this year. Off from the 6th Dec to 3rd Jan :)

Had to work xmas day, boxing day and new year last year. Will have to do the same next year. Get it off every other year.

I might be. I've asked to sign off and fly home from the vessel I'm working on from one of the two ports we're visiting in South Korea in the first week of December, but getting from either Ulsan or Kwangyang would mean travelling pretty much across South Korea to Seoul on the STX train, and then to Incheon International Airport by either bus or an express train, which I don't think the company would want to let me risk doing in case I get lost, miss connections etc. I'm all up for doing it, but they're probably only prepared to drop me where it'll be practical for the ship's agent to take me from the port to the airport, which probably mean Manzanillo, Mexico, our next port after we leave Korea. The Pacific crossing takes 3 weeks 2 days at our cruise speed, so we should arrive at Manzanillo either the 24th or 25th, which means I'll either arrive home on Christmas Day afternoon, or Boxing Day respectively.

Oh well, as long as I make my mate's New Year's Eve Party.
