There was a really scummy place beside Aberdeen Market that did some great ones. Probably got shut down by environmental health but they were delicious.
Also, it is doughnuts not donuts! A pet hate of mine.

Best one I ever had was, I think, a Jamaican doughnut at a stall at Glastonbury. It was long and thin as opposed to round and came on a stick. You could choose what filling was piped into it. I had banana cream. Awesome.
I don't like doughnut from supermarket, they are always too dense like cake/bread, I prefer my doughnuts to be light, almost like batter, and Krispy Kremes manage it perfectly.
