Who Needs WOW :)

The worst thing Blizzard ever done imo was redesigning 1-60 content. What I'm pointing at in particular is the redesign of many of the zones.

Making them 100% linear was a big mistake. Took away the feeling you were in a world and there was no point in exploring, since nothing was off the one golden path.

I liked Wrath the best. Although TBC's Kaza is my favorite dungeon/raid and made shadow priests a viable spec.

TERA is meant to be the best fantasy RPG out, it's just unpopular due to the fact a large portion of the playerbase are wapanese weaboo anime obsessed gaijin', and the games style is overly asian with incredibly ****gy looking female armor/NPC's. The actual gameplay is supposed to be immense though.

Played the beta a bit, reason i didnt sub was because you could reach a certain level and then youd just be continuously PKd by roving bands of morons. It was probably just a beta thing, but so many other games have come out recently im not even inclined to give it another go.

I played WoW (end-game raiding) from early vanilla until late TBC, went onto single player RPGs after that, and played many of the other games I'd missed while playing WoW. I now play Eve Online.

I just didn't like the feel of TBC at all. Horde and Alliance sharing 1 city, no 40-man content, no world PvP because of arenas and battlegrounds, only being able to use PvP-gear in PvP, and not being able to use PvE gear there which took considerably more work to gain. These were just a few of the things that drove me away from the game.

Do I miss WoW? No, and I feel as if I could never go back now that I play a game like Eve, where players make their own content and shape the universe as they see fit. I do miss some of the people I met in WoW though.

Never really been bitten by WoW, but i do like games that go for the f2p model, it defiantly works :) and if the game is actually good there make money in no time.

PVP is forced on or is that just PVP servers? Love or hate WoW it has the formula done perfect regardless of what you think about the execution, doesn't sound smart having always on PVP regardless of server/location. :o

You really haven't played EVE have you.

Go on try it ;)

I'd so love to go back to EVE it's a really brilliant game. For me though the have made it like an old boys club, people must be on close to 200 mill SP by now? I don't want to wait years to be at that level.

Maybe an old boys club is the wrong turn of phrase, but I hope you get what I mean :)

no world PvP because of arenas and battlegrounds,

I remember when Blizzard were bigging up Halaa in Nagraad as this amazing city like assault experiance. Massive dissapointment when I learnt it was a small, 3 hut island with a couple of wooden bridges & few guards.

Alternately, I feel the drop from 40 man raiding to 25 man was the right thing to do, TBC raiding was the pinnacle of WoW raiding IMO. It was pitched just right with each raid zone feeling like a distinctly different experiance. Even the bosses in each raid were pretty much unique.

Never played an MMO myself, keep meaning to try planetside 2 though. Looks impressive from the media I've seen (very little so I have no idea what it's about to be fair!).

On the most popular mmos launch day? Well **** me sideways

Using how many streams WOW has on twitchtv as an attempt to prove it's more popular atm is laughable.

Wow probably has more active subs than GW2 has sales so it's likely more popular. That said yes using twitch as benchmark is silly

Oh I know that. Without question WOW is the most popular MMO. It's now a dated game though with an 8 year old engine. GW2 looks 10 times better and I enjoy the mechanics much more. I tried WOW and hated everything about it.

Didn't realise i'd upset so many people.

I though that GW2 was hyped as a 'WoW killer' like all the other MMO's but i'm seeing posts in the GW2 thread that people are getting bored already and going back to WoW because the PvP is a mass zerg-fest and the end game raiding is meant to be terrible. I'm just waiting till it ends up like that Star Wars MMO to be honest but I think it'll take more time.

Quite a few posts about the good old WoW days too (I started in Wrath myself). I guess these people still miss it but Cata and MoP aren't what they cracked up to be?

GW2 was never hyped as a WoW killer... it was merely hyped as the first well polished MMO to come along to make it sweat, which in my opinion it has proved to be. It's not without it's flaws of course but it is a young game with plenty of time ahead of it yet.

The beauty of it is the subscription free model means you can pop back into GW2 and try it at any time, it will give you years of enjoyment.

Not really upset, I left GW less than a week after launch mainly due to a lack of depth in what to do end game that is a fun challenge so saw no reason to bother with it at this stage.

WoW is also easily the best fun I've had in an mmo with high end raiding, but the amount of ******** on each others games between different MMO players or people who quit WoW after Vanilla/TBC is a bit tedious to read every time I want to read interesting stuff about MMOs.

Yours looked like a snide comment probably due to the cynic in me now, my bad.

WoW good for PvE

GW2 good for PvP

People saying GW2 has no content are used to having hardcore dungeons & raids to run. I agree it has no end game content in that regard.

Now people who PvP primarily like GW2 for it's sandbox WvW and SPvP.

That's my general conclusion anyway

Regardless of WoW turd balance in arena the combat in PvP feels more tight. GW2 feels super floaty and like your spells do nothing. I also like a proper health bar and not all this UI fading out malarkey.

I'm sure it will improve in years and I'll be back.
