Who ordered one?, (HD2900XT)

This card looks very promising indeed. Drivers will deffinetly mature and I'd say it looks like the IQ is on par with Nvidia's. Performance wise, it looks like its a very strong alternative to the 8800 GTS. For use in Vista, it may be worth getting this over the 8800 GTX.

Im suprised OcUK hasnt been renamed to NvUK, seems anyone who even considers this card is slated in other threads etc and don't read between the lines because they have been so self satisfied in there own little worlds with there G80's to look or think about any other card, the slating really is bloody sad.

People were saying the exact same thing about ATI owners when the X1900 Series was king. :o

It'll always change based on who's best at the time. Nvidia has been for months and the general consensus is that they're still doing the business. If ATI improves the 2900XT through drivers that will change and this forum will go back to being a pro-ATI forum.

ATI has a good reputation with drivers, so if this is the case driver updates will happen weekly until they utilise the architecture fully.

R600 architecture is new, definatly it will get better as time goes by. However, how much better we have to wait to see.

To be fair you do come across as a bit of a rabid ATI "fanboi" dismissing any kind of negative comment about the R600 as some kind of bias, misinformation of Nvidia propaganda. It's bound to provoke a response.

I read somewhere they know about the fan issue and a fix is on the way in an upcoming driver.

Most likely some of the fan settings are incorrect in the current drivers which could force the fan to speed up exessivly

I bet tomorrow some sort of ATI tool will fix that already, but who cares really?

I've grown used to him, I just ignore it.

I still think the drivers will make a large difference over the next few months just by the fact that it is being beaten by the x1950xtx in certain benchmarks, lol. Also the image quality issue with the AF could easily be a driver issue or incorrect LOD settings.

Luckily for me, I won't be able to get one for a month or two anyway, so hopefully by then drivers will have settled down and the cards true nature will unfold. If it's still crap, I'll just get a GTS.

I'm very tempted to buy one. I'm fairly sure that the drivers are crippling the card atm (one moment it's beating the gts/gtx (in CoH i think..) the next it's worse than a 1900pro). I may wait, or let impaitince get the better of me and just buy one (I don't think it's too much of a gamble with the drivers, I think :P).

LOL, as do 50% of this board, Im waiting for him to start blabbing about Rainbow 6 Vegas.
But a card can't be good if it doesn't perform well in Vegas right?

According to his profile he's 60, i find it very hard to beleive a 60 year old has nothing better to do than whinge about graphics cards and spam the " " in every thread he posts in.

It really isn't, look at ATi's track record. I was so impressed with my 1900XT best card ive ever had and ive had both NV and ATi over the years, that I simply had to get one of these, the X1900XT had its problems at the beginning similar to these. Same with every big release.

I ordered an EVGA Superclocked 640mb 8800 GTS in the end, the R600 benchmarks seemed to random, sometimes scoring well and sometimes horrific, i know this could be sorted through drivers but i don't wan't to take the risk. Plus this way i can step up to something better in 3 months :)

Good luck to all who bought the card, hope it turns out great.

Fair play to yer, I can see where people were cominng from but in the end it is all about the gamble of drivers and how you feel with ATi from the experience you have had in the past imo.

Enjoy your GTS there good cards.

To be honest i love ATI, i think their products are awesome, im currently using a X1800XT and thought it was superb for the price i paid, i also really like the Xenos chip in the 360.
I suppose in the end i got caught up in the hype expecting it to just blow the GTX out of the water and couldn't get rid of that mindset and in the end it took all that time to get to the same performance as a GTS :(

Maybe the XTX will surprise me and ill buy that but by the sounds of it the card needs a complete revamp.

ATI drivers are still the best like ;)
