I sold my MT-09 a few months back. My R6 is departing my ownership on Tuesday. The weather this year has been utter *****. I've given up for now.

Here's to hoping for better weather next year, and a shiny new R9 on my list for the summer!

It was quite a 'meh' season for me, not only because my crash at the end of July, put me out of action for the "summer" months.... not that the weather was all that. But I changed bikes in April, then didn't really get to bond with the KTM - might have managed a little over 1000 miles on it, before it chucked me.

So I don't really feel I accomplished much tbh, sure I have enjoyed the 2-3k I have put on my bikes this year, but nothing felt memorable, and the great riding days were so sporadic; I didn't really get to plan many mega rides in with mates.

Here's hoping that I can still snatch a ride here and there before the salt goes down, otherwise, I may have to face the fact that she needs a clean and a tuck up in the garage :(

Sorry to hear that! Hope you're all recovered from your crash, both mentally and physically!

I didn't even manage 1k this year. 2-3k is a solid effort for April to July. I was itching for that 1-2 week period of summer sunshine where I usually ride every evening after work until 9-10 but that didn't happen this year. The weather just never came!

The gritters will be out in force here very soon. It's already dipping down to 4°C.

Pretty crap year weather wise no denying that but still managed to get out and put about 4k on the tarmac.
Bad year on the bike is still better than a year with no bike!

The bone didn't heal lol, so another op to look forward to, but at least it'll be over Winter (I hope!).

Managed maybe 400-500 miles on my S1000R, before trading for the Duke 890R - did maybe 1500 or so on that, and then 700 or so on the Speedy. Not too bad when I total it up, but no trips to Wales this year sadly - that route will be 400 odd miles now, now I've got the extra 60 odd miles to get up from Dorset to were I'd usually start

Not selling up but barely got out this year. We had a big garden renovation going on and my bike was stuck and I couldn't get it out past building rubble and pallets of paving slabs and the like so that wiped out loads of biking time and then the weather hasn't been fantastic either.

I've got plans for next year though to get me out some more. I've kitted myself up with loads of camping gear and some great luggage options so will be heading out and camping a little. Nothing too far away or for too long as I don't want to be away from home and family but just enough to get me out, get away and have a little break.... sometimes even just an overnight stop. I get to ride out to a place I've not been to before, set up camp and ride some local roads that will be new. Sleep overnight and then head home the next morning. Really looking forward to it.

Same plan as me. I only have a cheap tent though and no stove yet. I had wanted to get a couple of camping trips in before the cold weather set in but it will have to wait until spring now.

I bought a fair bit of kit. SW Motech Travelbag, a few extra drybags and straps, tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, stove, chair, etc. Can keep it all in the Travelbag and it's ready to strap on and go. Also added a small screen and handguards to the Duke to making some of the longer rides a little more beareable although they weren't totally necessary.

'Seasons' ??? Half the fun of riding a bike is in these autumn and winter months..your missing out!

Freezing my arse off in 5°C with poor grip and being too stiff to get a knee down isn't fun for me. Add in the grit in the next week or two and I'll be in a bush before I know it! If I was commuting I would consider it as a great way to weave through traffic, but I only commute a few steps into my home office.

This is why I switch to the fun car this time of the year. It's warm inside and I can still have some joy.

Once you've done it for a few years, you realise how meh it is though. Happy to ride up until the point they salt the roads, then I cba with all the cleaning hassle, so just go 4 wheels + heated seats :D

I sold my main 'big' bike, a Suzuki GSX-S750, back in May as I barely used it last year and I couldn't see myself using it much this year either. Turned out to be the right choice as I've barely been out on anything else either. Any time I've not been busy the weather was poor.

Other than a Triumph 955i recommissioning project all my bikes now are at or below 125cc. Most recently I picked up a 2023 Honda Dax 125 and I love it. The seller was struggling to sell it so I got it for a price that couldn't be ignored. I think the semi-auto gears put a lot of people off, but I'm used to them and in traffic situations prefer it. That'll be mothballed once they start salting the roads as it's too prestine.

Had half a dozen ride outs this year mainly brekkie runs with fellow biking workmates (enjoyed the food more than the riding), done about 400 miles in total. Seriously contemplating giving it up altogether as I just don't get the enjoyment out of it now, completely lost interest.

My other half is going to sell her Daytona 675r as her close friends husband had a nasty accident off roading and it's shook her up, so could be no bikes in the garage.

I've been watching the usual vloggers on YT and bike reviews trying to get some biking mojo back and it hasn't worked. Sad times!

Can understand but that shouldn't put anyone off from their joy. You may take some time off from riding but giving up probably shouldn't be the way.
Riding off-road has its own risks.

There are worse car accidents too but that doesn't stop us from driving. Just my thoughts.

Also, use it as an excuse to do some riding courses. BMW Offroad Skills Level 1 is great fun. In fact I'm sure every course on a bike is going to be fun. Superbike School: great fun.

I intend to do one next year or the year after. I got the Ducati info from Motorcycle Live that is in mid Wales. It is £299 for a day. I believe it is on a Desert X.
