Who uses .mac?

i think its a bit overpriced for what it is... but i must admit its very neatly done and if i had more than just the one mac i'd still probably consider it...

but at the end of the day the bit i'd mainly bother with can be done nearly as nicely with a decent online server and a desktop droplet, which i already have...

horses for courses i reckon...

I will be using it as my parents are getting there first computer, so getting them an iMac and a Time Capsule as starting from nowhere.

Will use the family pack with me as admin and my parents with there own accounts. This way I can also easily connect to the iMac from my own OSX until I get a proper Mac through the .Mac account. I can also further backup to the iDisk for them as well. Yes I could probably setup something myself but I don't need the hassle.

Also I want to get the email to my iPhone as well which .Mac account should do!

Is £69 for one person or £120 for a 5 user family pack which is what I will use. As me and two parents then £40 each.

The master admin gets the full 10Gb storage, 100Gb of transfer with 4 sub accounts sharing another 10Gb/100Gb so 2.5Gb/25Gb each.

There is however a 60 day free trial available so you can always give it a go and see how you get on with it. You are limited to 100Mb for the Web Site though.

I use dotmac, mainly to host files/photos, iDisk, but I also host a simple website I've created for my local tennis club (here). Hotlinking images are fine. It integrates with the mac well, thats what I like. And you get a decent IMAP email account, though I'm restraining myself from using it because I don't want to be tied into renewing it every year just for that!!
