Hi,

Just a quick poll (i'm bored). Who was your first ISP and are they still around?

My first ISP was called Direct Connection (dircon.co.uk) and I don't think they are still around. there was no subscription (paid only for the phone calls) and I got a free 33k modem.

true..

but tbh.. id rather pay for a service than get a free service which was.

slow.
unreliable
buggy
irritating
lasted 2hrs

it came with that dodgy bar across the top of the screen too... that used to annoy me.

i then jumped to ic24 for a while

me parents let me use it an hour a night as it was 1p min after 6pm...

before finally resting with freeserve, now wanadoo 1mb (only thing i can get in this area)

obviously now being 19 i pay for my own crap

Was with Zen on dial-up back in the days of it being 1-2p a minute :) used to rack up a lot of coinage then hehe.

Then went onto Nildram when broadband came out

Then left Nildram behind when I came to university and logged onto JANET

Planning on going back to Zen for boradband when I move into my house :)

i racked up me parents phone bill to £150 from internet bills by secretly going on when it was day time.. i.e. 5p a min.

our phone bills are hardly anything so it was a big deal.

hehe, then they thought it would be best to get the £15 a month 24/7 internet... so i was rewarded in a way.

First i used Lineone which was free evenings and weekends. It then changed it's name to tiscali.

Then i first got 512 with pipex which used to be excellent.
Then i changed to fast24 to get 2mb as early as possible.
Now im on plusnet maxdsl.
