Whoever pulled the trigger is...

Conversely isn't that also the key benefit of Tasers? Heat of the moment quick decisions aren't always right. Better to be able to dust the chap off and apologise than bury him?

Thats the theory for sure, and how it should be implemented. However the issue is when tasers become the "go to" rather than treating them with the same respect and creedence as firearms.

I'll admit in this particular case its obvious that using a taser had a better outcome than a firearm.

You don't follow news regarding US police then?

And you dont follow the news of the rest of the world with routinely armed police? Y'know the ones who dont just gun folk down in the street without reason.

I hadn't even noticed the military shop watermark to be fair on the guy. That was unintentional, was the first pic I found of one folded up tightly on google.

No it's not a military anything, it's just a black folding cane of the type that many old folk carry. You're digging for a conspiracy you're not going to find.

Google folding cane and they all look like that;

There is nothing military about it. You can even get them with "military" flowers on:

chuckle at the military flowers

"In fact, the ‘gun’ was the blind man’s cane, which was folded up as the man waited on the platform for a train."

10/10 for reading.

:D still not seeing the part where Dave said it is a WALKING STICK with his misleading watermarked picture from a military site of walking stick.

10/10 for understanding.

Probably, he heard the commotion but figured it couldn't possibly be directed at him. Not unreasonably - he's a blind man after all, why would the police be getting so animated at him?
This is pretty much what happened and why he got tasered, not his fault, not the officers fault on what he could reasonably observe.

You are aware Cane and Walking Stick are synonyms right?

Indeed I am, so is an alpenstock (a long wooden pole with an iron spike tip) a synonym of cane. Doesn't make his giant picture of military watermarked walking stick any less misleading.

It's not a military walking stick! Seriously, is there something wrong with you today? Have you forgotten your meds or something?

exactly. the guys is blind. he hears a police officer shouting for someone to get down on the ground. he knows he isn't doing anything or carrying anything to cause the police to behave this way to him. he can't see who they are looking or pointing at so assumes it isn't him. he's probably thinking some poor **** is in trouble, right up until he gets tased and is laying twitching on the ground!

I pictured all that in my mind as a story as i was reading it and chuckled at the end.

Dave himself has admitted it's from a military shop, with a watermark of a soldier with a gun. I am pointing out it is misleading and probably not even a walking stick as pictured or any other synonym and asked him for his source. Everyone else is trying to be clever and getting their knickers in a twist over it.

Tasers shouldn't be treat the same as firearms, because they are not. They are a lower level use of force than a baton, for example.

Just because it's from a military shop doesn't make it a military walking stick. It makes it a walking stick that is sold at a military shop.

Are you meaning to tell me that the military supplies clothes for kids now?

OMG a military boiler suit! If you wear it you must be in the armies!
