I know the whole 8800GT thing is a bit old now but since It's pretty dead atm on the games front (I'm only playing BF2 & TF2 atm and don't need a GTX for that) and due to me using my pc less and less atm. I have decided to downgrade to an 8800GT and use this as a cheap stop gap.

Got my GTX up on the bay and managed to fetch £195 which was pretty good going. Posted off the GTX today and my GT arrived today, great timing!

Managed to pocket £65 from the downgrade to go towards the next gen fund for whatever is the next big show stopper card.

Went for the uber cheap POV card which comes with the bare essentials but who cares it's all the same PCB.

8800GTX & GT side by side (GT is actually bigger than I expected)

Done a quick run in TF2 and the GT is barely slower at all infact almost the same sort of FPS @ 1680x1050 16xAA,AF. Very pleased with my purchase. Anyone else done something similar in anticipation for the better cards later this year or purely because the games you play don't require massive power or maybe like me you don't use your rig as much anymore?

Yeah its the bigger fan size, but even i didn't spot that it was at the other end of the card. :p

Can't see it making much difference whichever side its at, as they wouldn't have mounted it there.

Sold my 8800GTX last month, or rather I sold the replacement after RMA'ing the card, picked up a 8800GTS(G92) well they were cheap, already have a 8800GT in my other system.

Ive downgraded from GTX to GT then went back to GTX, then back to GT when better coolers arrived, bought another GTX last week as i thought I missed AA in some games, but it was only £139 so i sold it on for £175 and ive decided again Im going to keep my GT til next gen.

like you said, there just arnt any taxing games (that i play anyway)

i downgraded before xmas from 8800GTX to a 8800GT and im happy. i only play a few games and i play in 1366x768 res anyway so the difference isnt going to be very large at all!

sold my gtx for £225 on here, bought the gt for ~ £150 with free game.. coudlnt be happier tbh!

well....i have a x800gto...decided to upgrade...got a 8800gt....before i even received it, i decided to get a 8800gtx instead lol......so when i got it, i sold the 8800gt...then decided the 8800gtx was too much and it didnt fit properly in my case...sold the 8800gtx...went back to x800gto...then bought a 8800gt...which has arrived today :)

haha

Just started to clock her up

got to 700/2000/1500 (Will touch shader later on)

It's keeping @ 71c load

What a cracker of a card!

Just testing for artifacts, aiming to find the max clocks tonight.

Which way does the fan push the air is what im wondering.

I fully downgraded me, i stopped gaming, as they dried up, and any decent ones that were coming were getting delayed for months on end, so i just spent me time on the net, which you don't need a top end rig for, a Connie and 8800 GT etc... didn't make me net go any faster, and i also got shot of the GT as the gfx market is dead as well, 8800's have been out since 2006, and they still coming now, with even more of them still to come in July, so im not missing anything, as ive already had an 8800. :)

I've still got my Gainward 7800GS+ AGP :D
Does me for BF2,COD4, RFactor & RBR & a crap load of Valve/Steam games.

Quite happy with my 8800GT :D was quite suprised how fast it does run... I'm even beating my friends water cooled/OC'd 8800GTX by a few fps in a number of benchmarks.
