I know the whole 8800GT thing is a bit old now but since It's pretty dead atm on the games front (I'm only playing BF2 & TF2 atm and don't need a GTX for that) and due to me using my pc less and less atm. I have decided to downgrade to an 8800GT and use this as a cheap stop gap.
Got my GTX up on the bay and managed to fetch £195 which was pretty good going. Posted off the GTX today and my GT arrived today, great timing!
Managed to pocket £65 from the downgrade to go towards the next gen fund for whatever is the next big show stopper card.
Went for the uber cheap POV card which comes with the bare essentials but who cares it's all the same PCB.
8800GTX & GT side by side (GT is actually bigger than I expected)
GT in =
Done a quick run in TF2 and the GT is barely slower at all infact almost the same sort of FPS @ 1680x1050 16xAA,AF. Very pleased with my purchase. Anyone else done something similar in anticipation for the better cards later this year or purely because the games you play don't require massive power or maybe like me you don't use your rig as much anymore?
