Who's downgraded?

Quite happy with my 8800GT :D was quite suprised how fast it does run... I'm even beating my friends water cooled/OC'd 8800GTX by a few fps in a number of benchmarks.

Yeah, the 8800GT and 8800GTS do really well in benchmarks when overclocked, according to 3dmark06 my OC'ed 8800GT is only 200pts slower then my OC'ed 8800GTX scores and the 8800GTS absolutley murders it by over 1000pts. lol

I just did the bios update to up the volts on my GT, i was stuck at 695/2000 with original bios, I'm now at 750/2050, suggest upping the volts to get the max bang for buck.

I downgraded back to my 3850 from a 8800GTS 512mb....but then wasn't satisfied so upgraded to a 3870 for crossfire.

However, I did downgrade from a Q6600 to an e6300....wasn't satisfied again so got a E6750 and so far I'm very satisfied. 3608mhz at 1.32v so far...really no need for a quad in games yet. There's some benefit in UT3 but if you have a high enough clocked dual core it will suffice.

I'm running 720/1782/1950 for every day clocks - can prolly go higher (I've completed 3D Marks 06 fine at 750 after doing the 1.1v BIOS mod - but I couldn't get above 720 without the mod and not had time to test the limits with the higher vcore).

I've managed to get 710|1700|2200 on the stock bios. 30 mins ATi Tool stable

Seems like a good clocker especially the memory, this is without doing the bios hack.

Will prob do the bios hack over the weekend to really see what she's made of. Now I've found max clocks on the stock bios I'm off to play a few games :p

I bought a 8800GT to replace my 7900GTO, but the only game the 7900GTO struggled with was Crysis, and the 8800GT wasn't as smooth as I would have liked in that anyway.

Gone back to my 7900GTO for now, its more than enough to max out COD4, BF2, Prey, SupCom etc.

Seeing the 8800GT is getting dirt cheap, and the 8800GTX is under £190 I may pick up a new card in the next few months.

My RAM is stable upto 2308 (or there abouts) but I'm still not 100% sure what the situation is over the whole RAM interface and speeds above 2000MHz is so I'm playing it safe...

You should have done the easy shuffle when the GTX would have got you £250. :p

£65 Towards new gen is nothing. lol

I would have just kept the the GTX if selling now in todays current market.

Upgrades should either bag you money so upgrading to next gen cost very little.

Thats easyriders way :D

I've just replaced me 3870X2 for a PNY 8800GT 512mb. the X2 was a very good card but due to the lack of worthwhile games about (I've played and finished COD4 and crysis), it was just sitting in me pc not doing much. I might/probably regret it but its done now and the 8800gt isn't that bad really.:)

If £65 is nothing then why are you telling me I should have sold when I could have got £50 more for my GTX.

Strange little man ;)

Sticking with my 8800GTX. It was the fastest card around for 1920x1200 with AA&AF 14 months ago when I bought it and it still is now - unbeatable value for money over the time I've had it.

Aye, fancied keeping the GTX for a little longer back then though. Not concerned tbh £50 isn't a huge amount of cash :)
Eh? Then why bother trading it in to save £65? With no real replacement in terms of raw power and memory bandwidth on the horizon your GTX would only have proved to be better and better compared to other cards, especially if you ever plan on going to 24". /shrug

Don't get me wrong, I doubt i'd buy one brand new now if I was upgrading from say AGP, unless it was a stonking deal, but to trade one in you've already taken a hit on the price for seems an odd decision given you don't regard the money you saved as particularly significant.

I downgraded over a year ago from my 6800GT AGP to a 7100GS PCI-E. It was supposed to be a stopgap until the 8600GTS came out, but that was a disappointment, so too the 2900XT. I probably won't upgrade until true new gen is released and some decent games come out.

I downgraded from a GTX to a G92 GTS although tbh I can't tell the difference in terms of performance at the resolution I play at.

I would love to upgrade to a GX2 just for the sake of it but considering apart from crysis most games run fully maxed out (HL2, BF2, UT3 etc) on my single GTS there is no point.

Erm because circumstances change?

I won't be going 24" if I don't use my rig much now why would I consider a 24", if I do get a 24" it will be when the new cards come.

The GT comes very close and sometimes matches my GTX overclocked at my res and I have £65 in beer tokens. I only use my rig at weekends for gaming as that is the only time I cba/have time for gaming. I'm happy with my decision.

Who said I don't regard the money saved as sigificant?

I'm very chuffed with the saving as it is more money to go on petrol/beer

It sounds like you think your reasoning for keeping the GTX would apply to me when it obviously doesn't.

Nah, sticking with my GTX, in my case it's not worth it just too much hassle selling and buying. Still very skeptical about next gen, not sure if it's going to be twice as fast or just "a little bit faster" again, like 9800GTX flops.
