Who's Gonna Get What???

try unlimting your 1000 cap, to see *** it goes to.

does it play smother? do you even notice the speed increace?

if so, every speed increase helps online

A steady 60 or so FPS is all I need and I'm consistenly 1st....

I like the game to look pretty...why play a game like CoD4 at low resolutions with crappy details ...... :/

how can u feel it faster reactions as you can see only 60 fps. correct me if im wrong if your monitor is 60hertz and it only shows u 60 fps. so anything above that u don't even see it ?

u get more lag from your monitor i think but use more fps so u see whats going on maybe 20ms later or even more im not really sure if im right we need some monitor specialist to confirm it

well, seeing as im in the middle of building my new pc, i will be waiting probably another month after release until i get paid before getting a graphics card, enough time to see what is the best performer aswell hopefully

I thought the human eye couldn't actually see any difference between 75 fps and higher

That's a can of worms you're opening right there :p

I think I'll probably get one of the NVIDIA offerings depending on price. I'm gutted ATi have delayed the 4870 as I was going to consider that.

The upgrade bug has caught me but I'll not be selling my GTS in preperation. I need to see benchmarks of both cards before I move anywhere. I'm nearly always an early adopter of fresh hardware but I've been keeping out the loop for this release.

oo look, more new cards 5 months after the previous cards which were 5 to 6 months after the previous ones to those...

what a fantastic way to get the most money from consumers whilst giving as little as possible back.

This is the way it's always been.

NVIDIA are milking the cow for all it's worth. Same could be said for ATi. New architecture costs money may aswell tweak and reform current arc's to get the most out of it.

I'm waiting for DNF to be released for my next upgrade, so I think I'll be buying the AMD 12870 or the nvidia 17800 GT :)

I think I'll look out for second-hand 8800GT cards on the cheap as people buy new kit. I'm a humble peasant who'll happily accept the leftovers from the lord's feast :) Although new ones are cheap anyway. For some reason, I'm currently playing older games and my overclocked 7900GT (550/850) is plenty. But...I want a new toy. You know how it is.

Humans can identify objects displayed for 1/220th of a second. The practical limit for display is the monitor, not the person.

In practice, though, it doesn't matter.

Very high framerates might result in something being displayed a frame earlier, giving a player perhaps as much as 1/60th of a second's edge. But it's more about using framerate as a means of scoring, a sort of subgame. Many people here have done it with things like trying to get a hundredth of a second off the time their PC takes to calculate pi to a million places.

I'll probably stick with my 8800GT, unless I can get over 40% performance improvement in Call of Juarez DX10 for very little money. Every other game I have runs satisfactorally.

Swapping my X-Fi for a Xonar D2 is a higher priority.

I have a 8800GTS 640 here.

I will be waiting to see not just the first initial reviews upon release, but right up until after the 4870X2 is released and reviewed. I want to see what the prices are, performances are, and whether there are still any teething issues with some games and the X2.

I also want to see which card can do 1920 x 1200 with decent AA and detail, because at the moment there are very few games that I play that my GTS 640 can't - I'm not a fps chasing wh0re. Crysis doesn't count - it is worse than big girls dirty grey pants.

Unless there is a dramatic improvement, I won't bother upgrading until Nehalem is out in Q1 2009, by which time the various refreshes should have taken place and the price fallen.
