Who's got the Hottest 8800GT

The stock GT cooler is useless. Either its doing a decent job but with an objectionable noise level otherwise the card is quiet but cooking. Complete junk.

Swap it out at the earliest opportunity. Right now I have two 3870 and a single 8800gt. I've been playing with crossfire and the new ATI cards to see if they're worth ditching the 8800gt over. Without getting into the whole performance debate(which the GT wins against a single 3870) the cooling solution on the ATI is better in quality, especially noise levels whilst maintaining sensible temps.

Still not made my mind up which one to go for but if its the GT then I'll certainly be swapping the cooler out.

Can't wait to hear how hot(and loud) the upcoming '08 cards from Nvidia and ATI are.

Its better, but not by much on auto. The good thing is when you can manually set the GTS at >75% and its still quiet where as the GT makes a racket.

Currently 33c, was 41 earlier while playing NFS: Pro Street :)

I think the Asgard has his water cooled so probably 2-3c cooler than mine.

Looking at these temps, I should really consider getting one of these S1 coolers, My GT mild clock to 670 MHz Core and 1000 Mem I saw a temp of 88Deg in Crysis, it runs at around 82 Deg at stock in Crysis:eek:

Is it a big job adding the S1 ? anyone linky to a guide ?

Who's got the coolest 8800 gt ?

mines pretty cool, probably not the coolest... using the S1 and 2 yate loons (one on cooler, one in side panel blasting at the cooler)

Idle at 33-36c :D

Very easy to install just undo the screws on the gt the stock cooler comes off easy there's no forcing.
Then clean it all up with TIM cleaner especially the ram chips stick on ram sinks then cooler screw in job done forget the plastic clips.
Overall took me about 30 mins less fiddly than installing say a tuniq tower.
