Why are Fords so ugly nowadays

Agree to disagree am sure we agree the GT is great though!

I've always preferred older Japanese cars e.g. Nissan 240SX, Silva. Toyota MR2 (not the **** hair dresser model!) Datsun nissan Z or Celica liftback (77)

How can you call the cossie horrid? literally no one shares that opinion
Out of those the only one I like aesthetically is the MK1 Escort. I dislike the way the Cossies look, but I appreciate them anyway because of their rarity and their place in automotive history.

I do like quite a lot of Fords, I just can't be bothered to remember which ones and list them off... :D

Mostly oldies. MK1 Escort, MK1 Capri, MK1 Cortina, MK1 Fiesta, Corsair, 1st gen Mustang... And then a loooong gap, and then the sixth gen Mustang, MK6/7 Mondeo... Probably some stuff in between I'm forgetting.

I think that car design in general has stalled. Not just Ford

Reminds me of a picture I saw on here about a year ago......

I'd be more concerned on the reliability of their ecoboost petrol engines - maybe the cooling problem, split-pipe failure, was very isolated ?
but, that tarnished the brand.
Saying that have many manufacturers backed off 3 cylinders too ... with the oncoming tsunami of EV's ice engineering is stalling too

Aerodynamic+regulations maybe imposing the ugliness ... can't see if the the guiglia is less aerodynamic

Yeah there was issues early on, but them problems have been rectified I believe with the ecoboost engines

How much of that convergence is down to the regulations the designers have to follow regarding the height/width/position of lights, and crumple zones for pedestrian impacts, window sizes etc. It's similar to why all F1 cars look the same. The regulations determine where you can and cannot place bodywork, so everything follows the same pattern. I'm certain if they had free reign then every manufacturers car would look entirely different - which is why concept cars look brilliant until they're forced to be sanitised for real world use.

I think the fiesta Mk7 and focus mk4 (St-line up) look decent but everything else is all just bloated and soft and just a convergent mess of safe design.

Really struggling to think of any car which stands out in a positive aesthetic way.
