Why are Internet HDDs so much more than External HDDs?

Shopping around I can get an external 1TB for approx. £60-100, yet an internal 1TB is going to run me about £100-140. Its the same with all other sizes too, the internals seem to be about £40 more..

Why is this?
 
Not really sure, I'd of thought an external would be more expensive as you are paying for the extra components, eg, case and usb connectivity circuitry inside.

Maybe it depends on brand and spec?

PS - Your thread title says 'internet' not 'internal'.
 
The external drives are almost certainly slower HDD inside not to mention there will be a lot more stock of them over the internal ones on the market.
 
Internet HDDs are more expensive because it contains the whole Internet.

It's cheaper to buy an external, rip out the drive and stick it in your PC but you lose the warranty that way. ): Unless you're lucky and have a valid serial code.
