Why are PS3 games released later than on the 360

Ive not read any of the thread because im being lazy but i can say for sure the ps3 is a lot harder to debug than the 360, microsofts console is more user friendly probably because they are used to collaberating with developers e.g msdn

Since march when Sony introduced the Edge tool kit Recently, from GDC 07
Sony announced a new tool set that will be free to all developers known as "PlayStation Edge" that will offer highly optimized lightweight libraries for CELL SPUs. These libraries will provide code for animation, compression (expected to greatly improve loading times), and many more features. The package will also provide 'GCM Replay', a powerful RSX profiling tool to allow developers to gain the most out of the PlayStation 3's graphics chip

This is what games like killzone 2 and Socom are using to improve PS3 performance, and look at what can be achieved when using this tool kit.
The developers are using the PS3 as lead platform for Burnout paradise, as they and a few other developers have said doing it that way gets the best results for the PS3 and the 360 versions.
Just a few comments on the PS3 hardware,
Team ninjas Hayashi talking about other developers having issues with the PS3 hardware,
"
There are some developers who have complained about the difficulty of developing for PS3," he admits. "But, I am a creator, a developer - and by making a product, we receive money from the players. We shouldn't complain about the difficulty. If they think it's difficult, creating a game with the PS3, they should get out of the ring!"

Capcom’s Hiroyuki Kobayashi took questions in a recent interview talking about the PS3 development and the decision to go multi-platform with Devil May Cry 4.

He denied in every facet of the situation that the reason to go multi-platform with Devil May Cry 4 and other games was because the development process of the PS3 was too difficult.

He stated that the PS3 is not hard to develop for at all and stated that the reason to go multi-platform made more sense. It was with an operational goal that they made the decision as going multi-platform allows more gamers to play their games and with the success of the Xbox 360, it made more sense to do so.

There must be a reason why multi-format games are released later on the PS3.

For example:
Rainbow 6: Vegas
Dirt
Graw 2
The Darkness

Could it be due to lack of developer experience on the PS3? Or do Sony have some hidden agenda?
Wasn't Rainbow 6: Vegas released before the PS3? If so, there's your answer for that one ;)

For some reason or other The Darkness was released at the same time in the US but a few weeks later in the PAL regions. No one seems to know why! Maybe some of the extra films and shows on the PS3 Disc needed extra time for the multi-language euro games, seems strange to me though. Games using the Unreal 3 engine, Rainbow 6, GRAW2 etc may well be delayed by the same reasons why Epic and Sony have worked on optimising the engine for the PS3 version of UT3, future PS3 games using the new Unreal 3 engine will not need extra time to get it running well due to the extra work Epic and Sony have put in it.

There are 10,000,000 xbox 360's out there, so its best to release a game on that platform if you want to make the most money.

If you want a games machine you should have bought a 360. PS3 is a glorified DVD player.

Cell processor = over hyped, not especially good for gaming

PS3 graphics chip is under powered

PS3 doesn't have enough graphics memory

All the PS3 is about is Sony domination of movie media format. The Bluray player is the reason why a PS3 costs so much. If Bluray wins Sony will make money on every Bluray movie disc that gets sold. Thats all they care about.

Long live HD DVD.

Why not release every game on the PS2 then? Theres 100 million off them about! I bet its cheaper to develop for as well :p

Well yea newly released hardware does cost more! But surely even you would have known that??

And even if that was the case id still choose Blu-ray over HD-DVD anyday! As would most of the world by the looks of it! Size matters. ;)

Looking back over your posts, I can't beleive you just called someone else a fanboy. I really don't like the term fanboy myself as I think it gets over used a hell of a lot - but sometimes somebody will come along who thouroughly deserves the label and today my vote is for you ;)
