why bother with christmas pudd?

You don't need custard or cream or ice cream with it. Brandy butter - 'nuff said.

Jodie - believe it or not even the French side of my family enjoy it!

Proper home made christmas pud is fantastic :D

Yep. I contend that the people saying it's rubbish have only eaten nasty dry nutty shop crap.

If you must buy a shop one, anything less than Finest or Taste The Difference is unacceptable. Even then, it's nothing close to my mum's Christmas pudding.

It tastes like arse, so for me, no, its definately a un-necessary peice of Christmas commercialism.

cant disagree with you as i havent ever tasted arse :p

seriously though, a good quality christmas pud is delicious :)

and like metioned earlier, if you dont like it, dont buy it!

As someone else said in these forums recently...

The trouble with Christmas Dinner is that 2 days after you've eaten it you're hungry again.

I can't usually face the pud till New Year's day or thereabouts.

Its one of those things in our house that gets bought every year but no one bothers eating and it just gets thrown out

STOP BUYING IT THEN.

It drives me crazy how much people waste at Christmas. Between food and stupid presents, we must collectively waste millions.

I made mine last year - it's just come out of the garage (I keep there as it's cool). It'll be delicious. I love it, it's delicious. if you don't like it don't buy it! :/

wait you made it last year, and are only getting it out the garage now?

Not a fan at all myself, i just sub in a pudding that i do like though, home made jam roly poly for preference over xmas. can't stand mince pies but that's ok as i love apple pies and don't like christmas cake so i have a heart stoppingly indulgent chocolate cake with lashings and lashings of cream. don't like Turkey either but luckily no one in my family does really so we tend to have a big lamb roast with all the trimmings.
