*cough* osx86 *cough*

Which against the OS X license agreement, illegal and therefore should not be discussed on here.

Bearing in mind Apple's open beta on Bootcamp which will become supported on Leopard, when are MS implementing an official dual boot utility into Vista in case peeps want to run BSD?

Why would microsoft do that? They make operating systems not computers. It's hardly their responsibility to create utilities to allow people to run other operating systems on their own pcs.

So do Apple, Sun and IBM. They just happen to leverage the OS as a way of getting people to buy their hardware.

Apple sell computers so they have a responsibility to allow other os to run on their machines. Microsoft don't.

all macs have going for them is:

- the OS
- "pretty" design

the actual hardware is pretty sub-standard. now don't get me wrong, im getting a macbook next week. my argument is that without osx on pcs or without better hardware and more upgradability they are missing out on a huge market.

the reason MS don't do it is because as i said, at the moment windows doesn't need another OS to back it up. osx, linux etc. all need windows to play games, which for the home user is usually a consideration.

windows is WAYYYY behind OSX in terms of usability, and osx is far more advanced and a joy to use, and things look so good in it, unlike the clunky look of windos. however the fact of the matter is, people will only buy macbooks (pro or otherwise) if they play games. the desktop will always be a pc with a windows operating system unless apple choose to make changes to their hardware.

Some of the arguments in here are basically, pathetic. Im talking to the anti-mac guys/gals.

I have a macbook, a powerful pc with xp/vista/ubuntu triple boot.

Without a doubt OS X is the nicest and easiest to use. The pc is better for gaming because the gaming industry uses DirectX over OpenGL thus Microsoft have the monopoly here.

If you like Mac, cool, if you like Windows, cool.

But stop trying to show off with links to this, that and the other with arguments which are total BS.

bascially unless you game it doesn't really make a lot of difference just which ever one you find better to use.
Why are you ranting about Macs not being gaming machines when you run a spec such as the one in your sig?

You're right OS X won't support DX10. But Vista doesn't support CoreAnimation. It's the same argument (pointless).
