Why buy something u wont use?

This doesn't just apply to people with big engined bmw's. I had a customer in yesterday with a 54 plate corsa 1.3 cdti, it had just gone 12k miles, and he'd had it since new. With that low mileage he should have saved a few quid and bought the 1.0/1.2 petrol. I had another customer that had done less than 800 miles in 3 years in a new car, why have a car at all?? The depreciation could have paid for a taxi to cover all of those 800 miles and then some.

We have had a couple of corkers too...2002 Rover 25 thats just gone past 9k at this years MOT, 2004 MG TF with just over 6k on it that had done about 300 mile since last years MOT. Used to get an old dear come in with an X reg Corsa B with 4k on the clock...haven't seen her for a while though...madness!
:)

You can drive a fast car slowly but you can't drive a slow car quickly.

I would rather have a load of power in reserve for when you may need it.

Whata croc of ****

Of course you can drive a slow car quickly. you might not be able to accelerate at light speed but thats where a little talant comes into play in reading the road ahead and planning your exit strategy.
Also, you don't brake :D

Why do people buy 330's or 530's when u cant use them for there true performance my dad drives a 320d and a 523i he's clocked both of them and often when we are driving he's usually overtaking 530's that are in the slow lane etc.

i just dont understand why people waste money on cars that they will never really appreciate, and it's pointless buying them anyway cos if ur caught doing over 90 chances are u run a risk of losing the licence. a 2 litre is more than enough for the uk and ireland since the cops are so strict with driving.

the 320d is a fantastic car btw it's a 02 and he got 240kmh on the autostrada with 4 adults in it one of the smoothest cars to drive aswell. now even though u think 320d cant do 240 which is 150mph i seen the needle at 240 when he was flooring it, is it possible it reads 240kmh but it's actually not doing it instead it's doing like 210?

Carp, if that's how it works I'd best get shot of this asap then!

Thanks for pointing out how I've totally missed the point of fast accelerating cars all these years!

Why crawl at all, when you can do most things from behind a computer screen!

Why buy a computer when an Apple is good enough for most peoples needs :D

I drive my cars like an old man, right up to the point I need to overtake, then I remember what my police driving instructor told me about overtaking, minimum exposure time is the safest way to overtake :)

That is why I generally have a faster car than I need.

EDIT: forgot, I AM an old man :D

OP why do you have a quad core CPU? Surely that's a waste of money as sitting posting on the forums won't even put a strain on one of those cores. My old dualcore is smooth as anything when playing games on Steam and as my monitor is limited to showing 60hz it's not like the extra power is needed... Should have saved your money and only got 2gb of ram too.

I'm going to really annoy the OP. I own two large engined V6's in relatively small cars. And I usually stick to the speed limit. Clearly I must be doubly pants at car choosing and should swap them for 1.4's immediately :D

(not a chance)

I rarely speed, I drive pretty sedately these days, however my last car was a heavily tuned MG ZS diesel, and my current Rover 75 estate diesel has already been remapped to 160bhp.

Yes I know, I need to stop buying crap cars. :p

I rarely use my (comparatively little) power, but having some in reserve is incredibly useful for getting out of tight situations or overtaking. I'm going to take the 75 to about 180bhp and leave it there, even though I probably use pretty much none of it.

Edit: And I'm not even going into the whole '320d is well smoove' argument. My 75 has the last generation of 2 litre BMW diesel (the M47R) and although it's not bad, it's far from smooth. The engine in my friend's 08 plate 320d isn't much better.

Why don't we all drive milkfloats and reduce speed limits to 30mph everywhere and make destruction derby our lifetime occupation.

Because it would be silly Mildred

Driving at a really high speed isnt that exciting. Go 100mph for long enough and you will just think.."meh"

It's all about acceleration.

OP clearly a troll...

However, I'm sure most of us will agree - driving quickly on the motorway is boring - there are far nicer roads to get your thrills!

Edit: Whoops at thread revival!

I sort of agree, why buy an R8 if you're only using it as a daily drive?

I hate seeing people in fast cars going 50 on the motorway, I see a Ferrari, I want to see a red blurrrrrrrr.

However in answer to your question, the answer is simple....

Because they can.
