Why buy something u wont use?

Skoda Fabia VrS TDI PD having more torque is interesting, as long as it's got a good set of wheels so they don't shred lol.

Torque isn't everything though

I have often wonded this myself. Not from the rep mobiles with big engines as I can understand that.

But I see so many people looking uncomfortable in performance cars trundling along at well below the speed limit. Being banged around by rock hard sports suspension. Having little luxury and pin sharp stearing and breaks. All great on a track but not for really for everyday driving.

As others have said, because they can. "Why not?"

I've just spent a considerable lump buying a hatch with a 3.2 V6 and I don't do that many miles, work is only a few miles away.

Why did I change from a perfectly good 2.0 TDI? Which had more than enough power, fantastic MPG and a great all round car.

I can afford to run it, I've been working like a machine the last few years with a stressful full time job, and some self-employed work on the side - Now I can get something back. The V6 is smooth refined power, acceleration and overtaking is effortless. It's quite happy pottering around town doing 30mph in 5th and you can barely hear the engine at all.

Then when I want to have a bit of fun, I can head out to a few B Roads and as soon as I get my foot down I'm grinning all the way :p

You don't get the same effect from a 2.0 diesel, as good as the BMW engines are.

It's because for the type of car they want there's little other option, James May did an interesting(ish) ranty bit about it on Top Gear either this series or the one before, about how nice cars were just being designed to go around the nurburgring and with no thought for being used as every day cars, even if that's what they were marketed as.
