my mates got sum great material on his iphone..........but why have Apple not allowed this state of the art phone to send stuff via bluetooth? why do these big companys not give people what they want?

They were worried users would start sending mp3's etc all over the place and that wouldn't be good for a company pushing itunes as a legitimate place for artists to publish now would it ?

Practically every phone that has come out in the last 3 years feels out of date now even though the iPhone has some obvious over sights its way ahead in others

Doesn't make the lack of bluetooth file transfer any less fraustrating though.. I really wish another company made something as good as the iPhone, i really do dispise Apple.

I love it when people say things like that "I despise Apple" You probably don't like there products don't be so dramatic!

I always thought it was because of the affect blueteeth could have on battery life. We all know how stupidly power consuming the technology is (can't stand it personally) but given that the iPhone's battery life is somewhat shoddy as it is...

I never use the tech personally and have it always switched off but it is a bit odd for them not to fully implement the tech either way.

If all other major phones have the functionality, and it is critical to you, why buy the iPhone? Unless it has redeeming features that outweigh the functions that are missing, I can't really see the point of wailing on about it...

Yes there are things the iPhone doesn't do. If they are important to you, buy elsewhere. It's not rocket science.

It's not rocket science.

You think? It's not critical, it's just bloody annoying. They've already implemented two features the battery can't properly support (3G and GPS), why not go the whole hog for proper bluetooth! Infact it's probabaly more annoying that it's still there, you just can't use it for it's main purpose!

matt100: Bit long winded.. How about "The wonders of placebo effect"?

are you suggesting file transfer is bluetooths main purpose on phones? you're pretty wrong if you are!

Well I'd say;
1, for hands free
2, for file transfer
3, for wireless audio

So if you think that 1 out of 3 is ok for a supposedly 'jesus phone' then you're pretty wrong.

My battery fully supports my use of 3G and GPS, which is reasonably heavy.

And as I say before, if it's "bloody annoying" to you, why didn't you go for a phone that supports file transfer via bluetooth? Personally I've never used, or required the use of that feature so the iPhone ticked all the boxes for me.

On the iPhone it's one bloody annoying thing, on other phones it's many, ergo, get the phone with the least 'bloody annoying' things.. Simple enough.

Using GPS tracking for 30 minutes and it draining half your battery is NOT 'fully supported'. If you get slightly better performance fair enough, but the above is consistent with 3 3G iPhones i've used, so i'm sure i'm not alone.

Other companies had the chance, just like they could have made an iPod before the iPod but they didn't.

If you dislike Apple that much then click back and stay out of the Apple forums. Although if you hate Apple just because they won't let you copy music of the phone via Bluetooth then that is a little odd in my opinion.
