Why cant iphone bluetooth properly?

:)Matt, as you work in the mobile accessories market I hope you or one of the other members might be able to help me. As apple have decided not to (enable?) A2DP on the IPhone3G for use with sterio headphones, - something I have, (MOTOROKR s9), but now can't use since going O2 and contracting to an IP3G - does anyone have any experience of the dongles on the market. The ones I've seen are the BlueNext A2DP adapter and Brando’s new Infinxx AP 23. Will they work with the s9. Does anyone know of any others?

I love the phone and don't want to look a right tit using it but if fitting a dongle gives me stereo bluetooth to my headphones I'll put up with it. Also, is there any reason why it couldn't be connected to the power input of my 3GIP dock?:D

I can't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to use an external bluetooth dongle to link up with your S9s, I suppose the only thing would be how the software worked on the iphone, I'm presuming here you're talking about something specifically for the iphone rather than the ipod?

Having tried a LOT of bluetooth headphones I can honestly say I hate them.. without exception. Give me a set of shure/ultimate ears/sennheisers anyday, even my trusty skullcandys (awaits flaming as audiophiles seem to hate them) over fidly pointless bluetooth sets anyday.

And surely getting caught up in a cable is only an issue if you're naked? ;)

Tshirts/sweatshirts were made for threading cables through.

It's nice threading cables up a jumper but there's a few times when I wish I could have some wireless headphones for the iPhone. Despite the obvious downside to the wireless connection (generally lower spec than a hard wire).

I won't flame on the skullcandys.. I haven't heard them. I'm a believer in only judging a product that you've tested first-hand.

On the other hand.. I won't even entertain anything that begins with Bose ;)

I thought they'd included it so you could wirelessly sync with iTunes or even iSync, but now I realise that would just be horribly slow!

I always found Bluetooth very irritating and somewhat of a security risk, so I always turned it off. Just because the iPhone is pretty advanced in many respects doesn't mean it has to follow the crowd, which to me speaks volumes of the effectiveness of the iPhone considering it's so well respected even with these seemingly 'glaring' omissions. Apart from which, having bluetooth would detract from the more simple and elegant UI designs for much of its core functionality.

Wireless syncing would be good if it was done via Wi-Fi.

Actually, it would be a great feature.. probably worthy of a keynote in itself :)

Wireless syncing would be awsome.

I must admit if a friend heres a ringtone or if i have a funny pic its embarrasing when i say i cant bluetooth it to them......

Not as embarrassing as my old skool super mario V1 theme tune going off in the office while I'm out and about. Twice.

embarrasing???

laughing until you fart a little bit is embarrasing.. not being able to bluetooth file transfer just proves you've got the uberphone :)

It's not. The Zune's have suppored Wifi sync since the start and it's really not that bad. Obviously cable is faster, but for the quick update it saves reaching round the back of the PC ;p

I use a set of Sony A2DP headphones and a Sony A2DP iPod dongle with my iPhone 3G!!! Works a treat :D

Thanks for your help guys. Matt I agree that threading cables through Tshirts can work but not with earphone buds. You only have to turn your head and they fall out. I can't keep them in anyway, other than to turn them sideways and not only does that hurt, it attenuates the sound somewhat. Looks pretty stupid too.
I used the s9 at work because it's fairly well hidden behind my head and the sound used to be pretty good. Worked first time with my now defunct TMobile, (Ouch!) VarioII.

I agree WIFI syncing would be awsome. In fact it would be good to get WIFI working at all. I'm not sure if it's because home BTBroadband is crap or I need to set mine up but at the moment I just can't keep my IP3G connected. It drops the connection as soon as I try connecting to APPStore or ITunes.:)
