Although my M.D. was sympatethic he never has given me feed back during the 6 weeks I have worked for him, prior to me starting my new role I delayed the start date by a few weeks because I was ill then aswell. Amongst so many other things your "black n white" mind doesnt have the ability to comprehend as a human being especially when one is is ILL , one begins to lose faith and confidence and starts to read too much into things because of lack of feedback from managers and directors so its not a clear cut case..therefore as I had the time and couldnt see things clearly I chose to use the forum as so many people do..
I am a tad confused ?
I don't get why your so paranoid about loosing your job. Is there a reason why you need to be? Since in this case
1) People get ill - especially at this time of year
2) The company aren’t paying you sick
3) A good employer will value his staff
4) The MD seem like a good one
Is there something your aren’t telling us here or have you just genuinely been unlucky in your previous jobs? Are you good at your current job, were you interviewed by someone senior for it?
The way you refer to the MD I assume this is a small company you are working for.
If you are disappointed you haven't been getting feedback then ask them for some or ask to have a sit down informal return to work chat when you’re better so you tell them that:
1) Apologise that you have been ill, it happens; you’re not taking the mick, and say it isn't usual for you.
2) Tell them, you are enjoying the job, tell them you are happy with your work and ask if they are they happy with your work & output in so many words.
3) Tell them you are used to getting more feedback on a daily/weekly basis whether it be informal or formal and ask if they feel they need to do this.
4) Chat informally with your line managers etc when you can e.g. lunch/social etc, they will soon tell you if you’re doing something wrong off the record.
Basically control the chat to get the answers and feedback you want.
