why did he do it?

This thread actually makes a change from the "My girlfriend was rushed into hospital and her boss sacked her" threads.
I agree with xirokx that his boss is in a different league to most.
The last place I worked at (for 27 years) would get rid of you if you had one day off (this is obviously the temp workers).
I've lost count of the times that mates have lost their jobs because they've had a few days off with genuine sickness at other firms.

So xirokx takes 3 weeks to start his job because of illness, works 6 weeks and then is off work again with sickness.
Most places would ditch you and xirokx knows that.

k jacko, points noted BUT I feel again you lack basic understanding of how a person feels when they have been or are ill..

There are so many other things that need to be taken into consideration prior to summarising in the aggressive manner you choose to proceed in... Infact not only is it rude but it really portrays at how much of a naive individual you are and that everything in your eyes is either not black or white....for example if you had of responded to someone in the pub in that manner you wouldnt be standing for long...
Its only grey if you choose it to be. You think i've never been ill before? I certainly don't even think i was aggressive, just to the point, which you obviously cannot deal with. My initial post may have started with the word 'sissy' and thats obviously pee'd you off, but look at most of the other posts, saying "take a chill pill", "quite pathetic", "get a grip", "don't be such a wet tissue". They all point towards a more commone opinion of you being more than a little paranoid, and possibly making a mountain out of a molehill.

Now to iron out the finer points...

Although my M.D. was sympatethic he never has given me feed back during the 6 weeks I have worked for him, prior to me starting my new role I delayed the start date by a few weeks because I was ill then aswell. Amongst so many other things your "black n white" mind doesnt have the ability to comprehend as a human being especially when one is is ILL ,
You see now you've expanded on what you never said in your op, as well as just randomly take a stab at me
one begins to lose faith and confidence and starts to read too much into things
One? or just you?

because of lack of feedback from managers and directors so its not a clear cut case..therefore as I had the time and couldnt see things clearly I chose to use the forum as so many people do..
Fine, but you didn't mention that at the start.

In the future I would appreciate it if you keep your schoolboy advise to yourself and dont even bother to take the time to respond to my threads as I feel you have nothing of any importance to say to me and even if you did I rather not hear it...
Well, i wouldn't know that until i posted and you responded would i?
As for 'schoolboy advise', my initial post was kind of in response to YOU actiing like a schooboy.
You come across as someone who cannot deal with criticism ,if its negative. Damn foolish of you to post in a public forum then huh?
And you're only defense is now to attack me in retaliation. Better that you would have just put your point across in a more detailed manner in the OP then.

P.S. As for believing in ones self - there is a fine line between arrogance and self confidence..
I'm not sure what you mean here, but in a vain attempt to convince you i wasn't actually attacking you, i was just replying with my opinions; I wouldn't have considered you or anyone arrogant if they had self-belief. Your manager obviously thought that way too.

It really does depend on who and what type of business you work for.

Too often you can get a bad boss or manager......equally you can get some dire staff.

Worst of all is when they close ranks even if they are in the wrong.

I would always recommend people keep a personal work journal and log/date any discrepancies, in the same light log the positives. Never write anything in it that you wouldn’t be happy showing to others though so should be professional even if it mentions other staff members.

Serious issues should always be logged with HR on your file.

If the company structure doesn’t support that, then have a documented copy of events witnessed/signed by someone else and keep it safe in a file yourself. Worst case – non rectifiable situation leading to legal case/instruction then ok it may come down to your word against theirs but there are still legal procedures companies need to follow. Having a documented file of your own is of great benefit, especially if events are dated and signed.

Managing a company and staff has moved on a lot in the last few years....the problem is too many are stuck in the dark ages, unwilling to change or are just plain dodgey anyway so anything falls on deaf ears.

I think its safe to asume we have all been ill at some point...

Hes an MD, he has better things to worry about than giving new starters feedback, the fact that you still have a job is probably the best feedback you could want....jeez, get over yourself, you take self obsessed to a new level!

I've got a mate who works for Social Security in the call centre and he's had a total of 8 days off in a year.
He had 5 days in March and 3 days last week and he was called into a meeting today with a Union Official.
He knows he's going to be sacked because 8 days is the limit.

Dude.. i think you are alittle mad. You sound like some crazy guy who think hes failed his master and now wants to kill himself or something.

strange kid

The reason he doesnt want you to quit is simple.

You havent got the Flu, your boss, has infact infected you with a deadly new virus and is simply monitoring how long it takes you to die. Now if you go and quit on him, he can't monitor the deadly effects of the virus.
