Why did YOU get an AMD CPU instead of Intel & Why did you get an Intel instead of AMD?

2500K is likely to have much longer lifespan than AMD offerings currently out. I was originally waiting for bulldozer last year. By March 2011 I got fed up and just forked out extra for the 2500K. I am assuming for the current rig I have it will be good for all games for at least the next 2 years ?

I bought AMD because when I originally purchased my computer twoish years ago, it fitted perfectly in my price range.

I'm very happy with my AMD setup and I imagine it will do me fine for another year or two.

Always get whatever's appropriate at the time, whether it were PIII Coppermines, Athlon XP tbirds, Duron Morgans, Athlon64s, Core2Duos or Core2Quads.

amd, got it at the release of the 555 and was tempted by te core unlocking. Got by a full fat phenom quad for £80, when the real phenom quads and the i5 750 were in the £150-£175 range

I bought AMD before as I was on a budget.
I would have bought AMD again if they had something like the i5 2500k for the same money or less.
The i5 was the best chip for the £££ a month or 2 ago.

Was a massive AMD fan until the Q6600 then I converted because Intel smashed anything AMD had to offer...been the same since really :D

I don't understand the question. Don't care if it's AMD or intel, all I care is what is the best stuff I can get for my money.

Incidently, I got a 1055T, although in retrsopect, a i5-750 would have been as good at the time. I had fun with it though. But now nothing can touch the 2500K for the money.
