Why do our bulbs keep blowing?

It's really frustrating. We have various bulbs blow in different rooms around the house frequently. We've just had new lights installed in the lounge, with brand new bulbs and one has blown already within a week. But we've other bulbs that have blown as well. Our outside light went last night, and one in the hallway blew a couple of weeks ago. Then there's the small ones in the kitchen that keep blowing.. Is there anything I can do to test something or other?

i had this problem once, but it only happened in the kitchen. the electrician discovered a nail through the wire in the wall near the switch which was causing the problems. i would definately consider calling an electician to have a look around

Interesting. Thing is we have just had an electrician fit these new lights in the lounge (insurance job as we had a water leak). He did a few tests in the lounge and didn't pick up on any problems even though I mentioned we had bulbs blow galore. I think maybe I need to get someone in to have a thorough inspection.

the halogen bulbs went in our kitchen one by one.. my only guess was that they get the power for 4x and share it.. if one goes the other 3 are overpowered.. bought 4 new ones and now it's been holding fine for over 5 months.. im no electrician i could be very very wrong..
