Why do some customers think they can **** you off?

I worked in hospitality for 3 years and after that decided I'm never doing retail. Some days you get up and are helpful and polite, some days you get up don't give a monkeys. I remember one Sunday the day after I split up with a long term gf I ended up lamping a bloke because he was such a ******.

The original customer never abused (at least no abuse was mentioned in original post).
What she did do though, it seems, it show her displeasure at the pathetic service.

As I've said before, expecting one store to be able to reserve an item at another store is not too much - and failure to do so shows a pathetic customer service system.

Ok ok i was in a mood before. Our systems lets us see other store stock levels, which generally means phoning up and saying "put X away for a Mr Doe, he'll be coming up X Y Z" which is basicalyl what your after?

I just hate the people who expect to get everything right there right now and you can't do it because you've told about a thousand other people they can't and they accept it. I try and be as honest as possible and treat people the way i want to be treated.

Sorrry to revive an old thread, but I agree fully that customers can be very ignorant and rude sometimes.

In this instance, the "customer" was on a power trip, evil cow.

tbh thats what remote stuff is for.
I'm talking about the ones who want you to come unjam their printer.
because "I don't want to touch it"

to be fair, i think i know where you work, and your company is full of ***** and cant organise itself for ****. You may be an exception though of course.

When I used to work for a large 'No competitor hints.' (:p) I had the pleasure of being told that I was 'personally responsible for the breakdown of the UK economic climate' due to not being able provide someone with an engineer within an hour.

The mind boggles.

Wow! The thread lives!! Haha :)

Well , a year and a bit on , and I have got out of that place - I know work for the navy - quite a turn around.

And I will stick up for my store - everyone wanted to make sure the customers got what they needed / required. 90% of the time the customers walked out happy. I would never be a nob to anyone who works in retail anyway, but after working there , me being nice to people is set in stone now.

Although I cannot stand people who look like they can't be arsed , hate that...

The customer may be rude, arrogant, smelly, thick, ignorant and many other things, but ultimately they are always right as they pay your wages.

Notice on the wall when I worked at NO COMPETITORS! many years ago.

Yeah bit of a difference, I got out too. Had an office job for almost a year and a half now. Miss the exercise and thats about it! Glad to hear the navy worked out! You're right though, the Leics branch wasnt bad really from what I saw on my time there, probably better than the Notts store which I also did some support at. (although that was a bitch to drive up and down each day from MK) as they wouldn't put me up there for the three days)
