Why Do Tmobile deny there is any cap on internet ?

i recently got an unlimited data plan from t-mobile and am not getting more than 4mbps downloads and 1mbps upload. i called up and asked if there was still a cap in place and told me that i was one of the lucky ones being able to reach 4mbps on a HSPA connection and that the average person only gets 2-3mbps. does anyone know if this is still going on because if it is im going to pressure then into doing something about it

Yup T-Mobile unlimited 3G is still capped to 4Mbps.

uhm thought so. i had doubts for a few moment yesterday when i hit 4.15mbps down and 1.3mbps up but i dont think that matters in the grand scheme of things. i just kinda want proof so i dont feel like a dick when i grill the other guy on the phone from t-mobile but i cant test it myself

it is capped however there is an option to turn the cap off if you log in to the website. Dont know if it works or not.

The £1 cap is there so you have free unlimited data. If you turn it off it MAY start charging you for data now...

Interesting this thread should come alive again after being dormant for a while. In the early days of my contract I was capped to 4 mbps and I hassled t-mobile for weeks on end until I spoke to someone who lifted the cap (he never admitted). One final phone call and suddenly upwards of 20mbps on H+, just how it should be.

Unfortunately it didn't last and recently I had noticed very slow speeds again and there it was the 4 mbps cap was back! Most of the time Youtube is un usable at anything over 240p resolution.

I have just had a small glimmer of hope after reading an article online, I have just tested it and it does seem to work. Not the full speed of HSDPA but it does seem far more stable and I am not getting repeated speeds over 5 mbps.

All I did was go into mobile networks on my phone and choose T-Mobile rather than using the automatic mode. How long this speed increase will last is unknown but I'll take it for now.

Now I know there is a sacrifice here and that is I can't use the shared network cell towers like Orange for 2g calls etc.

I am going to see how I get on with just t-mobile coverage and if its bad or I need to get better call coverage I will just swap back temporarily.

I am interested to know if this works for anyone else..... Good Luck!

Roll on end of contract!!

Well! Minutes after writing the last post it was all over! Back to shocking speeds and un-usable video streaming.

10 Months left on this dam contract! I hate T-Mobile with a passion.................

Wow is this still going on?

I had a complaint with them about this back in 2012. It took multiple letters to their registered office and threats of court action before they sorted it out for me.
